Im an Atheist or maybe the undedided type, I like 1 song that was drummed into me when I was at school, if anyone can tell me what it is and were I can find the full lyrics I would be really happy, the first bit goes:

You shall go out with joy
And be lead forth with peace
And the trees and the hills will spread forth before you
there will be shouts of joy
And the trees in the feilds shall clap shall clap their hands.....

I am not religous but went to a christian school and I remember singing that song with true passion. apart from that I am really a Drum'n'Bass and UK Garage fan, but I will listen to anything a song that inspires a pleasant emotion is a good song.

Sure. (agnostic not atheist) I like some hymns and spiritual music. Much of classical music is all religious in nature. The music and the message are two entirely different things.

I listen to such a wide range of music, it's not surprising that I enjoy an occasional spiritual song. It's like a painting: just because I don't necessarily agree with what it is about doesn't mean I can't like it.

Like most people are saying, I do enjoy gospel, classical, opera, and hymns, although most contemporary Christian pop/rock generally is bland (like the "non-Christian" pop/rock scene).

Oh yes - do I: I am not going to list them because there are so many. They range from the powerful organ pieces which rock me to my foundations to the folk hymns like 'Jerusalem' (the Battle Hymn of the Liberals) 'To all in peril on the sea' (the hymn of the Royal Navy.

Two of the most moving and powerful pieces:
Fauré's Requiem in D minor
Jenkins - The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace (1999)

I'm crazy about good old gospel songs (I mean those choirs of black fat ladies with voices that would certainly reach Heaven if it existed. Thank Agnostos for Aretha Franklin!). And I also like very much the chants of the American Indians. And some of the Jewish religious songs.

edit: yes, Gregorian music is quite very much splendid too.

Oh, heavens yes. I adore many different forms of religious music from plainchant to Handel's _Messiah_. I'm not particularly fond of the bleaker hymns and gospel music, but I could listen to chants or religious-inspired music from the Renaissance, baroque, and classical periods all day long.

Well, I like Celtic and Native American music... both could be considered "spiritual" I guess. Also, the chanting of Benedictine Monks and Gregorian Chants can be relaxing, as can a church choir... admittedly, I rarely listen to this type of music, but I don't dislike it.

Some of it. I really enjoy Mozart and Bach, and I'm not going to stop listening to it just because it mentions god. I also enjoy the old spirituals because my choir in college did amazing arrangements of them. But I don't listen to any current Christian music. I think it's about as crappy as the current pop music. And yes, I'm in my 20's.

yes Johann sebastian Bach's organ work sounds great. Mozart's requiem, and all of the old church music. i like spirituals as well, I hate modern religious songs that don't follow basic principles of making a poem..

I like Thrice... "Stare at the Sun" is an amazing spiritual song.

But I also like A Perfect Circle.

And anything from Faith + 1
