I'm sure you've noticed that women are a study in contradictions. So I'm going to answer this as honestly as I can. Yes, we like nice guys. Except for when we don't. There's a time and a place to be gallant. We like it when men open doors for us, let us go first, and treat us like honorable people. But the are certain situations where it gets annoying. I don't like to be talked down to or counted out before I've given my opinion. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean that I'm not the person who should go into the lake after the drowning kid if the guy doesn't know how to swim and I do. There's a time and place for everything. But being a gallant man is not a bad thing. It's something that is missing from our world. Trust me, in a world where most men wear their pants down around their ankles and try to be something they are not, you're a gem. Don't let anyone else talk you out of it. We need more men like that, not less.

Some women do, but some think it's sexist or offensive. I think it is a nice gesture that you want to help someone out. Sometimes I open doors for men because everyone should be courteous to everyone else. I've noticed some men freak out, though, when the woman opens a door for them. Maybe it hurts their pride. To answer your other question, women actually do like nice guys. The reasons they date jerks are 1. Jerks take the initiative while nice guys hesitate.
2. Some girls have low self esteem and think jerks treat them how they deserve.
3. Some girls are superficial and like jerks just because they're good looking.
Maybe nice guys should go for nice girls instead of dreaming about the unattainable girls who like jerks.

I think when a guy does it naturally, it's much better than when he's nerdy about it. I was with a guy who would always say, "My lady," when he opened a door, and did a weird bow when he said it. Creepy. But yes, I like my doors to be opened for me. Sometimes I even stop walking at a door to give my guy a hint that I want him to open it ;-)

Yes. Being a nice guy is not a guarantee that girls will like you. But being a jerk is a guarantee that they will hate you. Yeah, it's not fair. I am not sure if it's a good idea to stand up when a girl leaves the table (eg to go to the ladies room). So few guys do that nowadays that when I stand, the girls often have no idea why I am standing.

i don't mind a little chivalry once in a while. my boyfriend don't open doors for me. only when i remarked sarcastically at him, would he 'remember' to let the woman pass through first.
and i realized that nice guys can be a breath of fresh air for me. but too nice is a bore. as in, the conversation would just die if he's acting like hes walking around broken egg shells on me. no one's an angel. but a guy helping the blind cross the road or stopping his car to help a stalled car by the highway, that's a "nice" thing to do, too.
he gotta be balanced. both good and bad. and by bad, i don't mean evil.

Yes, girls love it and they will remember you for it for the rest of their life. She will compare every other man to you. Guys who open doors and car doors, polite, use manners, and is freaky when needed they are the best. You dont find many men these days that know how to treat a lady.

It really does just depend on the girl...
Specially now-a-days.
Some girls like a guy who is old fashioned and sweet.
Other girls, such as myself, prefer a guy who doesnt think we cant handle ourselves.
I'm independent and I feel like I can do things on my own...
Opening doors, that sort of thing.
Why can't I open the door for you?

Yes, its sweet. Don't shove her out of the way to open a door, or race them to a table to try to pull out their chair, but be sweet and nice like that. We like nice guys... who can have a devilish side in bed.... sweet when appropriate, and dirty when appropriate.

Opening doors for women and all that other sort of stuff should become natural to you. You shouldn't even have to think about it.
So yes. Make it 2nd nature to you.

Only once did I have a girl say something and that was a women's study (you get the idea) major and she said she could do it herself. I would have held the door for anyone that was right behind me.
