I'm interested in learning archery. Can anyone please tell me of a good place to learn in Hartford County, Connecticut? Include the name of a website for me to visit, too, if possible. Thank you.

Greetings, manealf;

If you would like to learn the art/sport of archery in a no-pressure-to-be-perfect-right-away atmosphere, I can recommend a group in Hartford County, CT: The Barony Beyond The Mountain, one of many groups affiliated with the Society for Creative Anachronisms, Inc. There is a sub-group, called The Canton of Bowman's rest, located in/around Hartford County, CT (their current "Captain of The Archers" lives in or near Weatogue). Please see the links provided in the "sources" area. I have done quite a bit of archery with the group in my area, and i am fairly certain that the folks in your area will be just as friendly and helpful as those whom I am familiar with.

I am not at all familiar with the State of Connecticut, much less the Hartford area, so I cannot give advice on any of the commercial places where you might be able to learn archery. I hope this helps you in your quest to learn the Noble art/sport of Archerie.

The best place to start is Hall's archery in manchester CT(they have a web site) It is not all hunting there, we watched the top Connecticut womens olypmic archer shoot there,
don't go with the fanciest bow first, make sure you have a set of good arrows,
just get a good setup, a good used bow will be fine, after you make a commitment to the sport , then would be a good time to trade up to get a new bow of what you want.
get some instruction and when you start to become better join one of the leagues

This website seems to have a good selection of resources. I would try calling some of these places if they are close and asking. Some actually say they offer instruction as well.
