The word is wise, not sly. Christians should be able to see what the enemy is up to....usually trying to ensnare them through people's blasphemy or evil deeds....and not react, not return evil for evil, but overcome evil with good, hence the gentle as a dove part of that verse.

You are perhaps deliberately misinterpreting things.

It just means there are wicked people out in the world who are highly deceitful, and one can't proceed naively with them. We seek wisdom from God, part of the fullness in Christ available to the christian. But in one's own behaviour one should be as innocent as a dove.

It is good advice; be wiser than satan,
but harmless as a dove.
Satan knows scripture better than most
Christians do; its a good idea to know what Gods plan is; its also important to use your wisdom in a Christian way. We don't blow up buildings in order to make the point that God is the Creator. Get it?

The answer is no.
Christians should not be naive, simplists.
Christians think ....at least they should.
When caution, tact and delicate dealing are necessary, christians have the 'go-ahead' to act so.
