no, it is not.
That is an example of dualistic thinking: if "We" are good than "they" are bad. While some things are measured by extremes, not everything is. The existence of television does not difine any opposite, for instance.
In short, dualistic opposition (good/evil) implies an adversarial nature to the universe; a view of balance allows for a synergy of extremes that is not adversarial but cooperative.
PS stakekawa: that's just a myth you're spreading. Einstein never said that.

No, it's an ancient 'dualistic' myth. I don't really give a fig whether the answer given by stakekawa was a genuine certified Albert Einstein yarn or not, and it really doesn't matter. Someone wrote here that Albie was an 'atheist', would that be the same person who also said 'God doesn't play dice with the Universe' ?
I don't claim to know what Einstein thougfht, in detail, but he revealed enough over the years to know that he didn't accept that all life was an arbitrary, accidental business, and that the splendour of it all had to have some kind of 'Intelligence' behind it. Who knows, maybe Einstein is the first prominent human to have earned the distinction of being reviled by both 'Christians' and 'Atheists' !
Anyway stakekawa's answer is correct, whoever first said that, and I would have used just such an example of defective dualistic thinking to support my contention. As usual, those weak in logic and argument, resort to the ad hominem assault to divert attention from the point of discussion.
There is no such thing as disembodied 'Evil', all the undesirable results in this world are, regretably, attributtable to no-one but ourselves, as individuated representations of the 'Creative Force'.

Exactly. You have discovered the secret to life my friend. Without good there can be no evil and without evil there can be no good. The words "good" and "evil" are more then just words. Good is knowing to be kind and understanding. Evil is knowing to mean and unforgiving. But in both is something that the other couldn't do without. Without evil good wouldn't be brave enough to explore the unknown. Without good, evil wouldn't know how to show mercy. Both are living in perfect balance and without one you cannot have the other

It is not true that without evil there can be no good. Good can exist in the absence of evil. However, it is necessary for good to exist in order for evil to exist, since all evil is a perversion of some good.
It is possible for both good and evil to exist without the existence of God.

God is not the author of evil. He has divine decrees and He has
decreed that evil will exist along with free-will. Christianity my
dear atheist, is not mythology. By the way, I prayed for you last night. So, you better watch out! God's gonna get ya!!! In a good way!

Nope, not true. God came first and he made Lucifer, the fallen angel who wanted to be more powerful than God. Satan's still hanging around as a sort of punishment to us for listening to Satan's lies and stupidity in the first place. I won't pretend to know more than I do, so I won't say much more about it, but the truth is that God doesn't need Satan. The day will come when the devil will be done away with.

Yes I believe this to be true. Every thing is relative, everything feeds off of everything else! Without evil there would be no good, without good there would be no evil! We need both in this reality!! Look at it this way, evil is live spelled backwards!! In order to live you have to commit evil. This is in direct agreement with religion. as all religion states that man is born a sinner, in others words with evil in him!!!!

It's true that if we didn't perceive evil we would be unable to perceive good, as we would have no point of comparison.
However that's simply an aspect of our way of thinking, and if an omnipotent god created us he would have been entirely capable of allowing us to experience good without evil.

I agree with the first answerer, somewhat, though it is apocryphal that Einstein repeated it.
I believe that evil is a lack of good. I do not believe God's existence requires evil, nor do I believe in a personification of evil, i.e., Satan.
