i keep downloading dvd software to burn movies nono work

If you're stuck with CD-R(W) then you need to convert to VCD (not great quality) or sVCD (as good as DVD but you dont fit much on 1 disc. But then you need to make sure the DVD player under your TV can play VCD or sVCD.
Nero has always worked for me!

If your drive is just a "cd-rom" then no! You'd need a CD/DVD Burner (recorder).

If you want to make a backup copy of a DVD, use DVDShrink. If you want to burn a video file to a DVD, use Diko.

do not put movies on cds. the cds don't hold enogh to help you. use dvds for that

TRy using Nero its really good or even better go and check on www.download.com and look for softwares there.
