Last few years I occasionally get tonsillitis but this time one got enlarged and stayed that way. Its been three months now. It causes me to cough a little and looks like it blocks half the passage in there. Is this a problem and can tonsils develop into any other trouble? Is age a factor? I'm 55

They can grow more and more enlarged but it doesn't sound like yours will. I get tonsillitis every 6 months or so. Antibiotics don't seem to work for me and one doctor I saw discouraged me from getting them removed. (1. they can't be removed while infected or enlarged and 2. it's a painful surgery and difficult recovery for adults) I've found that gargling with warm water & salt three times a day helps. Drink warm liquids like tea but avoid dairy...

I don't think it would hurt to go to a doctor and see what they think. Could be a lymph node problem.

Best of luck. Happy gargling!

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

I have had huge tonsils ever since I can remember. I'm only 28 years old though. But I know that ever doctor I see says I have the biggest tonsils they have ever seen. But they all say my tonsils shouldn't cause any problems.

I often wonder, though, how much different my life would be without them. Would I breath easier, eat easier, live better? who knows.

Have the doctor check it out. You may need to have it removed.

It's still infected and you need to go back to the doctor.
