I'm sure your aware that your symptoms share more than a passing resemblence to lupus. The rash on the face, often caled butterfly rash is a symptom of lupus; as is the hair loss. Of course other auto-immune disorders can cause such symptoms. Lyme disease shares many similiar symptoms with lupus.
But since you have a family history of lupus, it seems the logical assumption.
I think you already know that this is quite likely.

Sorry your going through this! I am 27 and have had RA(rheumatoid arthristis) for almost 10 years now. It sounds like you could have lupus especially with the rash, and hair falling out...you may be in a flare right now. You need to find a good Rheumatologist if you don't already have one. There are a lot of great meds. out there that can help you. it may take awhile to see what is or is not going to work for you and your possible situation. I wish you the best of luck.

Wow, I'm sorry. I have colitis and it causes lots of problems too. They generally prescribe prednisone or azathioprine for both. I just started the azathioprine and I hope it works. I guess it takes months to reach it's full benefit. But you should definitely get the lupus blood test to see if you have the antibodies and then get on the right medicine if it is positive. Good luck. You can manage it and live a normal life. It's just annoying and uncomfortable.

You have many of the classic symptoms of lupus. Get a referral to a rheumatologist. Do not give up until you get a correct diagnosis and some relief for what you are going through. It is NOT all in your head. You are sick because you are sick, not because you are crazy or a hypochondriac or a hysterical woman. You DESERVE to be taken seriously and to have your symptoms taken seriously!

i know you don't think the doctor would be good because they have screwed up in the past, but going back is probably the only way to figure out the problem and treatment. it doesn't sound like you can have some DIY home remedy for that.

you need to research your symptoms.....you obviously have the internet, so start educating yourself......you need to stop worrying about what you might or might not have. You say things are worse for you know,I'd imagine whatever your doctor did is not working and you should go to a new one!

what if? those have to be the two most pathetic words in our language....what if you get hit by a truck tomorrow and die? It's time for you to stop counting on someone else to give you answers, doctors, friends, family....it isn't their job. You need to find your own answers and deal with your own problems, there are alot of folks out there willing to help you as much as YOU WILL HELP YOURSELF...but no one is required to do it all for you.
