The reason for not just coming out and saying it could be a fear of how you would react, or not wanting to hurt your feelings. It may not be personal to you whatsoever and so he may not know how to address something that has nothing to do with you when he interacts with you. Many guys also handle things by *not* handling them-hoping they will just all work out on their own. They make up excuses or engage in relationship-destructive behavior for reasons that only a qualified therapist could address.
In any case, if he was into you, he'd be calling or making future plans. It sounds like he used work as a way to excuse himself from the relationship. If you are a strong communicator yourself, you need someone that can rise to your level and be your equal. It is good that you found out this person was not a good match for you so early in the relationship before you had too much invested.
Let him go and thank God, the universe, or whatever for what is to come now that your heart will be open to someone else.

Girls have a tendency of being to quick to jump on guys because we are all dogs (according to women) and we all lie(again, according to women) but give the guy some time and dont be too worried about it. The girl that is always looking over our shoulder always freaks guys out. If you want to keep him you need to adopt the "play-hard-to-get" role and if he really is busy with work he will notice you dont have to hear his voice every 3 seconds and he will feel like he doesnt have every ounce of control and he will call. If he really doesnt want to be with you then you are better off leaving and finding somebody who does want you.

I would expect he has given you the "chicken" way out. Either someone has told him something about you he did not like hearing or perhaps you had an intimate night and that was all he was looking for.
If he changes his mind, though it is doubtful, then he can make the next step. In the meantime, close the door and open a new chapter in your life.

hi,
as a guy a tell you there is 2 reasons to act like this
1-he is playing "HARD TO GET" and want to see how much you love him and if you gonna miss him or so.....
2-he pumped into someone else and changed his mind SINCE you say it was only for a few days crush
but i tell you if "WE" loved a girl no work in the world we keeps from calling them even for 5 minutes!!!

Chances areethats his way of saying it. But it could also be he is busy. or he's a bit shy. give it some time and go on with your life as if he was not in it then see what happens.

It is so hard to tell someone you don't want to see them any more. It isn't polite, but sometimes it is easier to just drop off the face of the earth. Consider yourself blessed that he did it now and didn't wait till you had children together. Seriously.

He may be really busy!
Give him some time. If he doesn't call back within 2 weeks, write him off. If he does, accept his explanation and go on. Whatever you do, don't call him anymore - let him chase you.
