I ended up in the ER about two weeks ago with a 4.5mm kidney stone that had made its way into the most narrow part of the ureter. The doctor assured me that it's passable, I'll just have to "push it out," whatever that means. During the past week, I've been having kidney pain -- not as bad as before, but requiring a Toradol so I can sleep. Any ideas as to why this is, and how I can get that damn thing out of my body asap??

drink drink and drink some more. Best is water, but cranberry juice is an option. And do alot of walking, those two things together will aide in passing the stone quickly.

The stone here in question is quite large for it to pass thru the ureter. I think lithotripsy is best. The laser beam will burst the stone into fragments and bits, and these in turn will pass out easily.
Drink lots of water. Tender coconut juice, or any natural diuretic. It will flush out the kidneys and the bladder.

The olive oil method is best for Gall stones and not kidney stones. So please bear this in mind. Kidney and the Gall bladder are two different organs of the human body.

A home remedy given to me by a nurse and believe me, this really works! Mix 2 oz of olive oil and 2 oz of lemon juice, drink it straight down and follow with a large glass of water at the first sign of stone pain. The stone(s) will pass within 24 hours. I have eliminated at least 8 stones with this remedy and have not gone back to the urologist since I started taking this.

Kidney stones are painful, period. The time it takes to pass them is different for everyone, which doesnt answer your question.
There isnt anything you can do to have it pas more quickly, but I do recommend drinking more water during this time.
It wont be comfortable when it does pass... it can be painful for most people. Not what you want to hear I'm sure.
