About 6 weeks ago, my dog developed a really bad sneeze/cough that we took her to the vet for (it sounds so painful when she has a cough or sneeze attack), the vet heard the cough and said kennel cough (without looking to closely at her). We told her we did not think it was kennel. she gave us med's for kennel cough and it has now turned into pnemonia, she is now taking 7 pills a day with 3 more for her seizures. I believe the pnemonia is getting better, but I believe the first problem is still there. Does anyone else have any idea's on what this could be that I could bring up to the vet?
Mabye I will see a different vet at the same hospital. She also likes to eat the soil in the back yard (yuck)...

I'm sorry your pet is sick. I would go to another vet or maybe two. Good luck to you!

From what you've said, there's nothing to suggest this wasn't kennel cough. The correct name for this is canine tracheobronchitis, and it can be caught from any contact with other dogs. It's more common in kennels where of course there are higher numbers of dogs in close contact, hence its common name.

Kennel cough can certainly develop into pneumonia if not caught early, or if there's a particularly bad bout like your dog had. If the pneumonia is getting better, go with what your vet is doing.

If you don't like the treatment you're receiving, by all means go to another vet, or another in the same hospital - but do explain your concerns to the current vet, or at least discuss the problem thoroughly so you understand where the vet is coming from.

Please don't go to your vet with 'diagnoses' gained from the internet! The net is no subsitute for any vet's expertise. Address your concerns by all means but please don't start telling the vet his job!!

Your dogs nostril might want to be warmth and dry and nonetheless be healthful so do not allow human beings inform you that one. you will get cough pills from the vet yet I really have discovered vicks cough syrup works extra efficient on Kennel cough. It enables split the mucus and they cough it up faster. I also spray lysol lots. they're going to sneeze like loopy once you first spray it. Kennel cough might want to not very last too lengthy its a virus and has to run its direction about 7-10 days and is exceptionally contagious. i might want to keep your dogs faraway from different animals to keep it from spreading and to keep them from determining on up the different germs even as their immune equipment is battling this. in the experience that they don't initiate convalescing you may want to favor antibiotics from the vet.
