find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself with a little snack once in a while:)

I have been overweight pretty much my whole life either by just a little or a lot. Over the last year I have completely changed my eating habits and now I EXERCISE! This is what worked for me 1. eat breakfast (it keeps you from overeating later) 2. eat smaller portions (have 5 small meals a day or 3 small meals and 2 snacks-a snack can be a handful of almonds, a yogurt, cottage doubles-a meal can be a small chicken breast, 1/4 c broccoli,1/4c carrots, small baked potato w fat free sour cream-try molly mc butter and garlic salt on veggies-also slim fast shakes are good as well as frozen diet meals like Healthy Choice or Weight Watchers) 3. watch your carb, sugar, and fat intake (within limit-you can eat some bad stuff-don't cut it completely-you can lose weight on a no-carb diet but realistically you cannot live without carbs forever so you will gain it back) 3. count calories 4. EXERCISE!!!! This will really boost your weight loss and give the incentive to keep going (exercise only has to be 3 x's a week for 30min! (I like Curves-it combines cardio and weights-if I can't make it there I use 3lb weights for my arms and walk 30min) 5. Cheat sometime (actually I eat whatever I want on Sat night and Sun morning-this really helps me stay on track Mon-Fri at least) Doing this I changed my metabolism and lost 20lbs in a few months and feel great. One year later I still do the same things and haven't gained it back. It's a lifestyle change-not a diet! Good luck!

Weight watchers. Why? because any successful diet should be something that can be incorporated into YOUR lifestyle. Fad diets, such as the lemonade diet or Atkins, are temporary wieght loss solutions, but ultimatley they fail because you cannot maintain a healthy lifestyle and the restrictions eventually make you feel deprieved, and so you "binge."

I like weight watchers because what they teach is a healthy lifestyle. Basically, you are counting calories but use "points" instead as they are easier to add up. Every food has a "points" value, and you must eat your range of points within a day. Plus, you get "flex" points throughout the week. So if you are going out for lunch, or you HAVE to have that cookie this week, you can! Because in moderation, treats help you to stay focused and realize that dieting doesn't have to be painful. In addition, weight watchers explains the improtance of exercise. They take you slowly through it week by week. Having a support group is great, and bieng weighed in once a week makes you think twice when you are about to crack.

I lost 40 lbs in 7 months, and have kept it off for 2 years now. The 'lessons' i learnt are invaluable. My life has changed, and I have a much more positive and confident outlook. Consider it or at least check it out. I definitley think it's worthwhile.
