you know, the point is that the matter of god is metaphisical. that means you can never prove something logically( which you are actually trying to). god is a feeling , a belief.
now, they have called god as him, because up to now we have been living in a world built by men. so men imagend god as him. now if you feel like god is lady to you call him, Her. It's ok cause tecqnically god is beyond our imagination, and doesn't have sexuality like us, so it,s not a scene to call god him or her. god is greater than this.
have fun

Because Judaism, Christianity, and Islam emerged as desert religions. Since they were not originally involved in agriculture, they oriented more toward the sky than toward the earth. The sky, and especially the sun, has traditonally been thought of as male, or father, while the fertile earth has been thought of as female, or mother. I presume that is what you meant when you said "we"? There are other religions which conceive of God as female, or as both genders.

Just habit, and/or religious tradition. As Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all based in basically "patriarchal" societies, since men are "in charge", obviously God is male!
More likely either a combo of masc./fem., along those lines; but to say "It" sounds impersonal, so most people aren't comfortable with it. Most stick with "He" b/c they're used to it; that's what I do, at least. I feel most comfortable referencing God in the manner I most often encounter "Him" in discussion.
Peace.
ETA: Umm, person below my remark: only things you can "See" are real? How about gravity (a force you see the effects of, but cannot see...sorta like how you can observe the "effects" of God, but not see "Him", huh!), or how about your Soul (or do you not have one)? What about Love? These non-visible things are all real :)

Moses saw God on the top of Mount Sinai.
Moses referred to God as a "He."
I think it's because Jesus refers to God as the Heavenly Father.

Only Christians and other Abrahamicists do that. I always assumed they saw their god like other religions do....
Now I wonder. These people worship this guy, but they've never seen him?
Alllllllrighty then.

There are a couple of reasons, and they aren't likely to please revisionists:
1). Jesus is God in the flesh. God became Man in Him. That is, He became a Man in the process of becoming human. God chose the male to incarnate into and redeem all mankind, and if we follow Him, then we respect that choice.
2). God revealed Himself normally in the masculine form. He used feminine on occasion, but He overwhelmingly used male. If we follow God, then we follow His lead, even if it's not PC. He taught us to pray "Our Father..." not "Our Mother..."
The differing gender roles do bring different connotations to us, so we can't just arbitrarily change them. If we change anything in our faith to suit a passing fancy of society, then we won't have it any longer. It wasn't that long ago that we had a male-dominated society. Most societies are. How long do we honestly believe that it'll be before it happens again. Our luxuries and things will not last indefinitely.

Jesus said, "He who HATH SEEN ME hath seen the Father!" Though God is androgynous, I assume that because He sent a Son to Earth to die for our sins and that "I and my Father are ONE (same entity)", it's generally understood God is male.
