Under English/British law you cannot marry. The definition of marriage is that it is between two people of the opposite sex.
The law in this country recognises a "Civil Partnership" between two people of the same sex.
How you actually do the ceremonial part is a matter for you providing that it is in accordance with the law.
You would need to contact the registrar and the equivalent in France and enquire what the legal requirements are in each country.
Why should you wish to live in separate countries? Surely that defeats the objective?

I'm a Libertarian/conservative. Government does not belong in any part of Marriage. State or local. Anybody has the right to marry. This is the price we pay to live in a free country. people do things you may not like. I would like to point out that OBAMA has the exact same views as Sarah Palin. Dick Cheney is even more Liberal on Gay Marriage then Obama. Fact.

Check with the Social services in both Countries compile the information , the information that you will get from both sources ...and I suggest both of you move to UK as soon as possible because if one of you gets pregnant and delivers a baby in UK you will inhered half of the British wealth as the law describes...and the Queen can't do nothing about it.

You would most likely have to read up the laws, if there are any on gay marriage over there, I have no idea, or make a few phone calls to find this out. Good luck to you and him!!

Just find out the laws for each country, if they don't then you can't its that simple. And if one country dose then you have to be together to get married or unionized or what ever. Dam can't you guys just get together without all this bullsh*t. You've been doing it for centuries that way.

it is not a marriage it's a civil partnership and as such i would think rules are different. I'm not sure what they are but it's best getting in touch with people who perform them. Thye would have all the relevant information!

You would have to review their laws to find out if you could "marry" in either country without both of you being residents of that country.
