I believe very strongly in God. I also believe I have come to know him through personal experiences with him, and my experience is nothing like that which is written about in the Bible

So, I believe in God, but I don't believe in the Bible (at least not verbatim, many stories to make a point, 'fables'). Does that mean no one agrees with me? Or does everyone agree with some of what I'm saying? Am I a 'bi'religious (attracted to both sides)?

Where do you get your information about God?

Have you received Jesus as Lord and Savior?

Believing strongly and following completely are two different things. We should be either hot or cold, the lukewarm have no place in the kingdom of God.

Seek the truth my friend. It is found in God's Word the bible.

Doesn't upset me a bit. I base my belief on my experiences as well and, like you, have found it is nothing like the Bible or anyone else claims it is.

Agreed again... I don't believe in the Bible either (I know it's the writings of ancient people trying to figure out life and God), but I also know there are some good teachings within the book as well (I'm not one to throw out the baby with the bath water).

So far, I have agreed with what you've said here. I wouldn't say you are bi-religious. I'm not sure there's an actual label for this... probably why I just use the label Pagan. Makes it easier all around when discussing these things, for me anyway.

I fully agree that there is a supernatural world. But if you reject the bible, how can you be sure you are getting through to God, and not to one of Satan's angels?

Mohammed received his 'revelation' from an angel, and the Jehovah's witnesses and Mormons founders too received messages from angels that diverted them away from the gospel message.

Catholicism can be taught in a dry way, with salvation assumed as coming just be virtue of going to receiving mass and being baptised. This is not what the New Testament teaches. Although many catholics are christians as they have actually received Christ as saviour and been born again, some are just religious doing 'dead works' as Hebrews 4 puts it. That could make anyone seek spiritual experiences, I've been in some very dull lifeless churches, and been glad to get out.

According to the bible though you have to be careful as Satan is the great deceiver; he can and will try it on, and can fake a lot. If what is said contradicts the God's revelation christians are warned to reject it.

You might try sampling some other christian churches. If you want experiential knowledge of God and supernatural things in your life as a believer then pentecostal, charismatic, word of faith etc churches are best.
On the internet have a look at
www.SidRoth.org,
www.GaryCarpenter.org, www.PrayerCenterMedia.com,
www.tacf.org
Not all churches have thrown away all mention of the supernatural aspect of faith.

I think you've chosen the easy road, you believe in God because of you need to turn to him during trials but you don't believe in him enough to read about him. The Bible was not written by God but by people that have known him, been his messengers and his devotees. Yes it's a lot about fables and messages written between the lines, it was the literature of that time. The New Testament contains several fables in which we can find comfort, faith, hope, peace and answers. But once again, trying to understand those messages require efforts and an open heart that a lot of people don't want to invest.

Just a quick note:

If it were not for Religion and the Bible, how would you have ever known about God in the first place?

How would you have known those "Personal experiences" were with the one true God, or from a cow's Spirit, or the Sun God, or the Moon God?

But no, it does not upset me, it is so nice to see an honest question on here, even though I don't agree and am a strong Catholic, your question made me want to jump for joy!

Thank you for an HONEST question!

Good luck!

This most certainly does NOT upset me. I'm not a Christian and don't believe in the Christian God nor the Bible.
But if you believe that you have had personal experiences with God, on any level, who am I to judge that.
I think the better question is do you believe in Jesus? It is the belief in Jesus that makes you Christian, not just a belief in God (though if you believe Jesus is God that's another story altogether).
I would say, you do what is best for YOU, and don't let anyone tell you that you are wrong in any way.

I believe you are experience God trying to speak to you, but there are the voices of lying spirits sent to confuse you.

It is simple, In The book of James, he simply says to Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

One other thing the bible says that the demons believe in God and tremble, but there place of eternal death has been fore ordained.

You have to determine if you are able to save yourself, or if you need a savior, If you truely believ you can do it on your own, then you dont need to wory about God, but if deep down you know you must have a relationship with an almighty God, then I "beseach you brother, by the mercy of a Great God" to accept that you are a sinner, and you need to have a savior Jesus Christ.

I urge you to confess before God that you are a sinner, and that you believe in the Holy truth of Jesus (as I do) that He lived a perfect sinless life, that He was judged to be a sinner unjustly and crucified for crimes He did not commit. That at His death, He became a sacrafice for your and my sins, and you accept His sacrafice as you own. That on the 3rd day after His death He rose from the grave by the power of Gods Spirit and you accept and surrender your life to that Holy Spirit even now.

I urge you to read the word of God, and seek His kingdom 1st, and trust in His word. Don't be religious (doing things and acting a certan way). Let God live thru you and be Jesus with skin on to those around you that need it.

Praying for you, God Bless

I don't believe in a book that is the supposed word of god that has been re-written hundreds of times of the centuries, and contradicts itself all the time. I mean it has some good stories in it as well as some good lessons, but every holy book for every single religion is the same way. They all have good life lessons and good stories.

I think you have a great observation in you but people who are answering didn't quite understand the question. You are christian but u dont believe in Bible. Let me tell you there are many many christians who dont agree with eachother in bible wordings and meanings. So, its pretty common. The solution is to do your own search and find out which religion stayed same as it arrived in this world

I agree to a point...I haven't had any personal experiences with god. But I do believe there is one and I don't believe most stories in the Bible. I do however believe that Jesus was real and lived but was a man, and nothing more.
