Good observation.
That seems to be the pattern, just when you hit upon a particular truth that someone is trying to deny, they get defensive and resort to school yard tactics like name calling.
Good advice, read and study the bible, pray for wisdom while doing so.
Have a good day!

Well, I did read the bible and did my research. Extensively, actually, in three different versions. I even prayed like it was my avocation. It's why I'm no longer Christian.
Perhaps instead of insisting that you know why people are angry and defensive, you should search for the questions that ask why they are, read the responses, maybe even that that question yourself (it's been done a lot), and find out the reason why. Try understanding your fellow human beings rather than judging them.
Christianity isn't all puppies and sunshine for those of us who don't practice it, and that's putting a prettied-up, delicate face on the situation.

Actually, talk to a few atheists. You will find that a lot of them became atheists after reading the bible. They read it expecting it to be some wonderful and perfect piece of literature. Instead they found gaping holes and errors and all in all it is not that great of a read. They have done their research and they have put thought into it and came to their decision.
As for people getting mad, there are lots of people getting mad about all sorts of things on Yahoo Answers. Go to the Gay and Lesbian section and you will find some people saying some pretty mean and hateful things. Some people even threaten violence. It does not matter what group you belong to, there is someone in that group who is angry about something and will vent. That does not make the entire group angry people who vent.

Well and I think thats what really sets Christianity apart from other religions. most religions teach that humanity deep down is good and can be tweaked, modified, self-helped, and enabled into something pleasing and good in the grand scheme of things whereas Christianity teaches that every person that ever walked the face of the earth was a sinner and without God doomed to eternal punishment.
People dont like to be judged and that is precisely why Jesus said that they would hate him and us as well because he testifies what the world does is evil.

Defensive? No, not really dearie. Just getting annoyed at the stupidity of most of the God Botherers.
We could play the bible quote game. Find the reasons for killing somebody in the New testament and also report back on what questions women are allowed to ask or answer in church.
What does the Bible say about women teachers?
edit, OH CRAP, drive by thumbdowners.

Amanda Dear...... Why would it matter to you what I beleive? Why do the religious seem to feel that it is their job to go out and try to change everyone else?
But let me ask you a question, Do you feel that the bible is the infallible word of God?

I have read the Bible and done the research. I have prayed to God.
And I still think it's bollocks.
And your hypothesis about people getting upset is wrong and it's a common Christian tactic to try to make it seem like people really do agree with them, when really 2/3 of the entire planet does not.

They're certainly not indifferent, are they? When I hear somebody talking about something I don't believe in, I don't get angry. I remove myself.
Generally speaking, nothing makes a person madder than being backed into a corner, so it could be conviction. Good thought.

Or maybe you have it backwards. Maybe we're all stick to death of being beaten over the head with this stuff. Why don't you go read your bible and leave the rest of us alone.

Drink up, everyone!
Hon, that's a pathetic excuse for a question. You need to learn how to behave yourself as an adult in public discussion before you go shooting your mouth off again. It's exactly this kind of childish behavior that leaves people believing that you Christians have shoddy morals.
