After the ride it (scrotum) is very sore. I wear padded shorts, but occaisional it still happens. Anything I can use to prevent this and anything I can use once it happens and I want to ride without pain? Whats on the market for this, or what remedies are there.

It sounds like you are experiencing "chaffing", which is caused by the skin repeated rubbing back on forth on the fabric of your shorts.

First, the shorts should be keeping your boys locked up tight. Make sure they are not too big..the shorts, I mean....and that they are pulled up all they way. Also, invest in a _good_ pair, like from Pearl Izumi.

Second, make sure your saddle is adjusted correctly. Any pressure you feel while sitting on the saddle should be moslty felt on your 'sit bones', not your 'taint'. If you feel pressure too far forward, tilt and/or slide the seat forward until it's comfortable. Also, make sure the seat is not too high. With your big-toe knuckle (aka ball of the foot) on the pedal and the pedal at the bottom of the stroke, your knee should have a slight bend to it.

It might be in your best interest to go to a good bike shop, buy a new saddle, and have them set it up for you. Even the most inexpensive of saddle can be set up to ride somewhat comfortably by some one who knows how to do it.

As for riding after the damage is done, the best cure is time. But if you _must_ ride before you're completely healed, try an antibiotic pain reliever cream like Lanacaine Plus, and don't be stingy with it. But don't use so much that it leaches through the shorts, either.

Off the bike, use something like Gold Bond Powder to keep the skin dry and wear a bikini brief to keep the boys from bouncing while you walk.

I've been racing for over 20 years, trust me, I've had my share of saddle maladies. This will work.

Diarrhea can contribute to hemorrhoid formation because the bowel undergoes pressure strains due to the condition. These won't solve the issue long term, but will give the tissue a better chance at self-healing.

Internal hemorrhoids are a different matter and require more intervention. Your best bet is to educate yourself about the condition, its causes and what options there are to treat it both short and long term. Don't ignore it though, hemorrhoids tend to become chronic in nature, lasting years or decades in some cases.

The pain is probably from lack of blood flow due to the seat pinching the arteries and veins.

Get a seat with a cut or a grove that runs the length of the seat. They usually look something like a "Y". A seat with more padding and some form of suspension in the seat, seat post, or at the rear of the bike will help also. The seat also works to minimize the possibility of becoming sterile by reducing pinched arteries and veins.

Until then, stand more when riding and sit less.

Bodyglide (looks like a deodorant stick) is what I use to keep the chafing away, and there are other products that people swear by as well. Chamois Butt'r comes to mind, and oddly enough I hear Bag Balm works very good (find it in the skin care aisle at the grocery store).

You may want to get new shorts if they're old, or reevaluate your seat if it's past its prime as well. Just keep your nethers CLEAN and moisturized, and it will help.

I agree with MadMonkey. Also, for the time being, try putting some fragrance free lotion or saddle sore cream. This will give it some lube. Put a decent amount on down there as it can break down, just like motor oil. If it hurts on the slightest touch, it is a saddle sore.

Are you waring any underwear. Bike shorts are meant to be worn right against the skin. The pads are soft and often hypoalergenic to avoid any thing unwanted from growing down there. Underwear can cause chaffing and unpleasantness.

pay attention to the two guys above me, get some padded shorts with a chamois, dont wear freakin underwear man, and get yerself some chamois butter/cream. if THAT doesnt work try some new seats.

might be the type of undies you use.. certain materials catch on the biking shorts and chafe... other than that can't help ya.. I'm a mountain biker and don't spend as much time sitting as you (assuming you are a street biker) and haven't had that problem.
