Hi all,

I got stitches during the birth of my first child and they hurt really bad.

I couldn't sit down on them for a weeks.

My mum felt sorry for me and asked the nurse in hospital for a blow up pillow for me to sit on. The nurse said they didn't give them out anymore because studies show they prelong the healing of the wound!

I was so afraid to sneeze and going to the toilet was a nightmare, especially as I was constipated.

Did anyone else experience this!!

Yep, I had a forceps delivery, ending up being cut, and then tearing. I was wheeled off to theatre (I thought that was normal, but apparently they normally come to you...) leaving a bewildered hubby, surrounded by the 'evidence' of delivery, with our new daughter. My obstetrician couldn't tell me how many stitches because they use a continuous piece of thread rather than individual stitches, so no need to count.

That was 10 months ago, and I am now seeing a gynaecologist as the repair isn't great. I get that it can't be easy when you're a swollen and bloody mess down there, but I almost wish I'd rather had a caesarean - I have 5 friends who did and they were all bouncing round by their 6 week check. Whereas I STILL pay attention before sitting down!!!

Going to the toilet was a nightmare, but for the opposite reason than you might think!! They gave me lactulose to soften the stools - and boy, they sure softened them!!! I was about 10 weeks before I managed to completely wean myself off it though, and even then there was some discomfort.

Oh well, I guess it can't get any worse next time round! And your little bundle was worth it, weren't they?!?

Erm Yes! My 1st was 7 weeks early and only 4 lb 7 oz, but he had forceps so they cut me and I needed lots of stitches and also i had this cough, so everytime i coughed i had to hold myself! I was so bad that the nurses on special care rang up my ward sister to see if they ould look into why i was in so much pain! My second wasn't too bad, my 3rd didn't need stitches, but my 4th was very bad, when I had the courage to be able to feel the stitches there was a gap! The midwife came and checked at home and told me the stitches had come undone, and i was concerned they would take me in and re stitch me, but she laughed and said "no", however she took a swab and I needed antibiotics as the open wound was growing bacteria! They started me on antibiotics before result of swab, but swab confirmed i had taken the right antibiotics! I remember my husband was quite concerned when he saw the scar!
All healed now and no trouble !
Good luck! I think salt baths help but check on this !

I developed hemorrhoids about 1 year ago. Then I dicovered this system: http://treathemorrhoid.kyma.info Hemorrhoids are in a general sense engorged veins. If this happens in the rectal area, it becomes hemorrhoids. I purchased this method that speak about the most proficient system to discard hemorrhoids naturally, without surgery. It helped me a lot! Now I live really better! I can't acknowledge how rapidly I got relief (pretty much overnight!) I didn't have hemorrhoids anymore and, in the case they will come back, I know what to do :) After following the instructions of the method throb, irritation, shivering and draining was gone. I can guarantee that I got rid of my hemorrhoids problems with this method: http://treathemorrhoid.kyma.info If you're suffering for hemoroids you should definitly try it! you won't regret, trust me.

I had similar experience with my son. I remember the pain and the fear of going to the bathroom. Try to soak in a warm bath...no soap or bubble bath. That is about the only thing that made me feel better. It took me two weeks to get over the worst pain. I used a donut pillow that I got from wallmart in the beginning, but later I found that it is better to carry a pillow around and to sit laying back a little. Good luck and don't worry. The pain will go away. Congratulations!

I had well over 50 stitches. The doctor lost count because he had to do a lot of "running" stitches. Anyways, I definitely remember the pain. The next day was horrible, and no one thought to give me an icepack. When a nurse finally figured out that I didn't have an icepack and hadn't had any pain medicine, she almost s*it her pants. And I definitely remember the first afterbaby poo. That sucked REALLY bad.

Yes, I did with my first, I had a lot of trouble healing 3+ months. And it was sore with intercourse until I had my 2nd child, I guess when they re-cut me it helped with whatever the problem was, I healed much faster with my second.

If you have any more kids, the tucks pads for hemorrhoids are very soothing on the stitches, I would recommend using them, our hospital gave them to me and I bought them once I was home. Hopefully you will not have the same problem if have another baby.

After I had my first baby I had a lot of stitches. They were very sore, so every time I used the hospital toilets I also used the bidet it helped to keep me clean and makes the stitches dissolve a lot quicker.
