It is probably not terribly bad for your health but it certainly not healthy. Low in nutrients high, in simple sugars, lots of processed flour. It has few positive health benefits. Wheat bread is much better and the less refined the flour is that is used to make the bread the more health benefits the bread will maintain.

No, but it's not the best thing for health either. You need fiber and one good source of fiber is whole grain breads and cereals.
The next time you're on the bread aisle, pick up random loaves of bread and notice the 1st ingredient listed. If it's enriched flour, that's your clue that it's not whole grain.

Its not exactly the "go to" food. The white bread manufactures have to fortify these foods often with iron and vitamins just to make it somewhat good for you - so that should tell you something. Super refined flour = carbs/sugars that easily convert to fat. So all in all stick to the whole grains.

If you like the taste and feel of white bread, but want the whole grains, most of the major bread companies have what they call "Whole-grain white". It tastes like white bread, but has all the nutrition of wheat bread. We buy it for our daughter.

if it is all you eat it could be bad for your health, if you eat fiber and other grains from other sources it's of little concern.
