hello everyone i really need to know if anyone can tell me anything about sciatic nerve damage caused by a depo provera injection in the right butt cheek I have to indents in the skin and muscle in my right but cheek that is exactly were the dull numbing feeling starts and goes all down my right leg I have had this now for almost 2 years I think it might have had something to do with one of my depo shots not sure wich one though any answers will be greatly appreciated thank you everyone have a great day :):):)

thanks for the answers so far everyone i just wanted to add that i don't think it is from the shot it's self but from the nerve being hit but what are the chances of this happening has anyone else ever have it happen to them :):):)

my doctor won't admitt to it being from this he says my sciatica is not from getting the shot why would he not think it is a possibility he han't even looked into that it bothers me so much

If the shot was given in the wrong place, then yes, you can have sciatic-type pain.

Not only depo provera but any injection if it touches the nerve sciatic than it surely will give all sign and symptoms of nerve damage !that may be minor to big !It the technique of giving the injection which is important and not the injection(Of course injection may be thick and oily may give more problem as it reabsorb slowly from the site of injection)It should be given in the upper and outer quadrant of the gluteal muscle ! lAlways Yoursme

if the shot hit the nerve you can hurt for many years. see if you can get an answer from your medical doctor.

Try another doctor and get a different opinion.

Place ice packs on the area for ten minutes several times a day.
