see a Doctor. no joke, he could have a couple of disorders actually and growing into it may not be the best thing. There are a couple of tests that can be done to prove or disprove this. My 5 year old daughter was having issues and she was not allowed in school until she was potty trained. he got her that far but it turns out she had an under developed bladder and urethra. The DR put a stint (small plastic flat support) in as an outpatient basis and she is fine. no wetting the bed regained complete control within 2 days. See your doctor and get an informed opinion.

This is a medical problem and there seems to be nothing doctors are willing to do about it. Bed wetting is caused by a slow to develop bladder and children should never be punished or shamed by their parents for this condition. Some take till puberty to actually overcome the condition. Drinking anytime of the day has really no bearing as it is an under developed bladder. Talk to the doctor. There are drugs old people take to stop wetting their beds and pants because of old prostate. (another medical condition). Lets put blame and fault where it belongs and help this child. Hope this is the information you need and please don't let anyone take this out on your child. Talk to the doctor and tell him that you want information and solution as it is available.

My second son had the same problem until he was almost 8. I talked to his ped on several occasions and was always given the same advise. Just wait it out. His bladder just may not be mature enough to last the night and he may be sleeping so soundly that it keeps him from waking up to go. My son awoke only after he had wet...the coolness and wetness is what woke him. He would just strip his bed down and sleep on his blanket then get a fresh blanket til morning. Whatever you do DON'T ridicule him or try to make him feel it's his fault. It ISN'T! My husband would get angry with him and insisted that he was just being to lazy to get out of bed to go. I finally took him to the doctor with us and the doc finally was the one who convinced him that he was wrong! Some children just have this problem. It is more common with boys than with girls. It may help to limit his fluid intake...no caffeine after 5PM and no other fluids after 7PM (probably best to eliminate fluids 2 hours before bedtime, my son had a 9PM bedtime at that age.

My son is ten and he wet the bed up to a year ago. I just put the plastic zip sheet on the mattress. His doctor just explained that some children sleep deeper and with holding fluids doesn't work. I didn't make my son at your sons age wear a pull up. how degrading at 7 to have to wear no matter what you call it a diaper. They feel bad enough that they have this problem. Check with your doctor and see if it is a medical problem if not, it does get better. Good luck to you and your son

First don't make a big deal out of it to him, it's very embarrassing and humiliating to a kid to be dealing with this. My parents would get angry with me and call me lazy but I didn't know myself why I slept through wetting myself and it was depressing for me to continue to do it despite all similar efforts as to what you're already doing. Eventually the pressure from them backed off and I eventually outgrew it.

Have you taken him to the doctor about it yet? They've come a long way with helping with Bed-wetting through the pediatricians. First they'll make sure it's not a medically related problem and they'll be able to make recommendations for you.

If after ruling out medical causes keep in mind that it might just be the way his sleep cycle works that he is in his deepest stage of sleep when his body so relaxes it relaxes the urinary related muscles as well. Something you might try is to change his sleep routines a little bit, not to lessen the amount of time he sleeps but change his bedtime to an earlier time so that when he reaches that deep stage his bladder isn't as full. But definitely check with your doctor before trying any home methods.

try to remain positive and remember that he will outgrow it eventually, in the meantime encourage him and find ways to adapt.

My daughter has the same problem we started going to the urologist. They gave us lots of different things to try but its still not been the cure all we wanted. What has help the most is waking her up two hours after she has gone to sleep and taking her to the bathroom. It helps but she still sometimes wets the bed.

I hope this doesn't scare you because I'm trying to give encouragement. I'm 15 and wet the bed. My mom makes me wear diapers under my pj's. also she has me wear an alarm under my diaper. it's so embarrassing so I know what your son is going through. best of luck.

take him to a urologist to rule out any medical condition.

protect the mattress from odor. (the odor is hideous) use two of the plastic bed protectors. have him use pulls ups at night. wake him up at 3 am to pee.
