I believe that US since July of 2006 you have to have a passport to travel anywhere outside of the US you might want to ask a travel agent.
We went to Mexico on a cruise and had the time of our life.

The US Virgin Islands, Hawaii, The Florida Keys and I think Guam, Puerto Rico and the Marshall Islands can be traveled to without a passort.

The US Virgin Islands are relatively expensive. You will need a passport even on a cruise that goes to foreign lands.

The keys are tropical.

When I think tropical I don't think Florida. St Thomas is ok its tropical, the beaches are gorgeous, shopping average. Other than that not much to do. Haven't been to the other usvi so cant speak on them. Puerto Rico is one of my favorite places, its beautiful, the people are friendly and there is so much to do. Puerto Rico has so much of everything, beaches shopping, and a lot of culture and history. Alot of times you can find good package deals to the caribbean. As for a cruise, you do not need a passport if the cruise departs from and returns to a US port, its preferred but not required. A cruise would be a good way to see the caribbean without having to get a passport, especially if you want to go to different countries.

The keys are tropical and are nice, but they are pretty pricey. A few years ago you didn;t need a passport for Mexico, and most places in the caribbean, but now you need a passport for almost everything that is not a U.S. possesion. You will also need a passport for a cruise since they visit a variety of countries and the ships are typically registered to countries other than the U.S. (which means they are ruled by that country's laws when the are in internatinal waters). You really need to have a passport hand anyway. You can't even go to Canada without one anymore.

you do no longer pick a passport to flow to the U. S. virgin Islands or puerto Rico even even with the indisputable fact that they are no longer US States. the policies are being debated and adjusted each and all of the time, so examine to confirm if it adjustments in the past you holiday, yet on the 2nd, there is not any passort had to holiday to those countries.

If you travel outside of your country these days you need a passport. No way around it, no excuses...and you can thank George Bush for this little inconvenience.

most carribbean countries allow you to enter by sea through the end of the year with birth cert and drivers license - check the country's embassy or consulate from the link below:
