i'm in my senior year,and i'm planning to drive to my prom but it requires me driving on the freeway..can i have a few tips on whta to do and what to expect

What to expect...
1) Lane changers...people who can't pick a lane and stay in it longer than 5 seconds.
2) Excessive speeding
3) Tailgating at highway speeds (a recipe for disaster)
4) Drivers trying to keep you from entering the freeway.
5) Drivers changing lanes abruptly without the use of blinkers.
Tips..
1) Use your blinker.
2) While you are entering the freeway, check the traffic you are merging into. Do NOT depend on your mirrors for this. You will need to turn your head and look quickly. ..and don't wait until you get to the end of the entrance ramp...by then it's too late.
3) Stay in the right lane.
4) No speeding.
5) Before prom night, go on a practice drive with your parents. They can show you the proper technique of turning your head to check the traffic.

First of all, expect that you will have to drive faster on the freeway. You will have to speed up or slow down to merge in the oncoming traffic on the entrance ramp. If necessary (only a last resort) you can stop at the end of the entrance ramp (i've never had to do this). If you stay in the right lane, you will be on the side to exit to wherever you are going. If you stay in the left lane...it is the "passing" or "fast" lane. Other than that, you can turn on cruise control and chill.

Stay in the right lane unless you are passing someone. When getting on the Xway try to accelerate and merge into traffic. When departing, try to keep the speed up at much as possible until you reach the exit ramp and then slow down.
Try to maintain the speed limit, and/or keep up with the flow of traffic.
Above all, do not drink anything with alcohol. Getting pulled over for a DUI will not make for a good prom night.
when driving, pay more attention to the road, than your date. You don't want to kill your date on their prom night either.
