Category being Religion/Spirituality, i post questions here to maybe connect with other people who are lucky enough to know the importance of OUR higher power...there ARE many things in my day to day life that make me understand that i Am a spirtual being...and i feel empathy towards someone who cannot move past the physical aspect of ourselves, because we are so much more than that. To say that WE are only the product of accidental exposure is degrading of ourselves and our fantastic humanly abilities. This makes me think that we can possibly be a product of a true creative genius. The Athiest point of view seems to counteract with itself when the person is subjecting themselves to the things that they are refusing to know and feel. The "proof" is all around us, i think provision has led to the refusal.

Agreed.

You hit the nail right on the head; you are a spiritual being and in fact the "proof" is all around you as you created what you percieve.

There appeares to be two major "sides", if you will, to spirituality; the Athiest and the Religious types.

While the Athiest spend time rationalizing evolution and science, the religious types rationalize "God" and claim to know whom "God is, what he thinks, they gave him a sex and advise each of us what "God" actually wants us to do. They leave No Room for Us nor do they give credit where credit is due.

Aside from that, there is the silient catagory that seeks truth absent institutional dogma.

The physical aspects of the self that you speak of, is The Focule Point for humanity, at this juncture We are focused upon this physical world as a matter of pure choice; by doing so we learn the hardships of physical reality. This is a reincarnational duty, so to speak, that we have agreed upon as a species.

The nature of reality is wide open, we creat, by co-operation, everything. There are no accidents, only continueing evolving Probabilities as nothing is "set in stone".

We live all physical lives at once, our abilities in this physical world are taught limitations; we see forward, backwards in linear fashion; we percieve time in this sense also, yet, all of it is an agreed perceptual idea to keep us focused in the "now".

Try looking at "Seth Speaks" online also search that title and "Jane Roberts"; fascinating.

Years ago there was a series on public TV called Cosmos with Carl Sagan. In one episode he presented a analogy that always stuck with me. It concerned the arrival of man in the history of the earth. It went something like this.

Imagine the passage of time from the forming of earth until today as being one year. If we look at the calendar for that year we will see that man appears in the final second of the final hour of December 31st. That is how long we have been on earth compared to how long the earth has existed. One second.

But to think how much has been accomplished by this one species of "smart ape" in such a short time is hard to comprehend. It just seems so unlikely that we just happened by accident. Natural selection does not begin to explain why we suddenly appeared. The case for some sort of intervention, divine or not, seems to fit the available evidence much better.

Yet, there are so many who believe we can make all kinds of assumptions based on our science. It was only about 500 years ago that everyone absolutely knew beyond a doubt that the earth was flat and the sun orbited the earth.

I posit that there are many, many laws of nature we are not even aware of yet. Just because we think there is only matter and energy that doesn't mean that there may not be other things we have not discovered yet.

Not very long ago, the only source of light we had was fire. Not that long ago, we had no idea sound could be recorded or broadcast or carried on a wire. Yet, what makes us so sure that there are not other ways to communicate besides radio waves? Please!

Teach some people a little rudimentary science and they become so arrogant that they can't even allow for the possibility of a Creator. Such egos these Atheists have. They fancy themselves to be all knowing.

There IS no higher power - only the immutable laws of physics and the blind (but NOT random) forces of Nature. Please do yourself a favour and read two books by Richard Dawkins - the first, "Climbing Mount Improbable" explains in very simple terms how complex life really did evolve spontaneously and without supernatural intervention; the second, "The God Delusion" explains not only why God almost certainly does not exist but also why this simple fact can make life better for anyone who accepts it and could even bring permanent peace to the human race.

Very intelligent question.

I just accept that for some people the whole idea of a supreme deity is illogical. I can see how it is, actually. I still think there is a God because I think he has let me know that he is there. I also think that atheism is a higher enlightenment. God appreciates intelligence and thought. After all, He gave us that ability.

The fact that every one accepts one's own state of existence implicitly and unquestionably places spirituality beyond all those phenomenal manfestations which are only results of "actions"coming into "existence" because of self generated subtle spiritual programmes.

What is truely degrading is believing that we are little nothings, subject to the whims of this "higher power"..serving "the master".Now that is degrading. Where is all this "proof"you speak of?

Of all the accidents that could have occurred, I feel extremely priviledged to exist.

Physical nature can give rise to beauty, love, memories...It is not a sad existence.

Nice question, but you probably should bring it down a notch for the anti theists so they can grasp it.

Science may be limited, incomplete, even flawed at times.

Science may have caused grief and pain.

Science may seem to shatter people's dreams.

But it's ALL we have. There isn't anything else. Whatever challenges science is doomed to fail.
