Yes. Go for it! I did and was glad I did. Weddings are not for the couple, they usually are to please other people. But when you get married your life changes and these people who usually attend big weddings (outside of immediate family or extremely close friends) you never really see again anyway.
The most important day is not your wedding day, it is the rest of your life.
Since money happens to be the number one cause for marriage problems......do all you can to save it to have on things that matter - like building your life together.
It gave us more money to spend on the honeymoon, building a new life together in our new home, etc. All couples need a good foundation - and if you have good communication in place, you enjoy each other's company and you have the same core values, you respect one another - you are off to a good start. Saving money by doing a civil wedding will put your new life together as a couple in a solid starting position and give you one less thing to argue about, enabling you to enhance your life more by saving for the things you both desire (saving to raise a family, have a home, build a life, celebrate the 'moments' ...like having your Friday night date nights together, having anniversary trips, etc.).
Congratulations!! May your married life be blessed!

You can just go to the courthouse and get married in front of the judge if you don't want all the extra expense ...not sure if it is called a civil wedding or what but, no matter how much you do or don't spend on your wedding, you will stay married the same amount of time so...I say, save the extra cash and go on a nice honeymoon! Good luck to you!!

Yes, if you're only going to get married through the law of man and not the law of God, then yes, its just a civil wedding. You can go to a courthouse and do it there. But I strongly recommend you get married through church. There's nothing like receiving the Holy Blessing and starting your marriage under the love of God.

Civil wedding just means not a sacred wedding. By a justice of the peace instead of a priest/preacher/rabbi.
You can have a small wedding and still have it blessed by God if that is important to you. You can have a large wedding outdoors by a justice of the peace if its not.

Sometimes that's the most practical, especially if strapped for funds. Also if you're looking to get off to a better start needing new appliances, furniture, or want to have a bit of a honeymoon, the civil marriage is better financially. It doesn't cheapen the way you feel about each other.

In the US it is called a civil ceremony. You contact your local municipal government to apply for the license and you can ask them if the municipal judge or town mayor can perform the service. Good luck and God Bless.
