"And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth." These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want."

Can any learned believer shed some light in interpreting this prophecy and provide full details on who those two witnesses are! Thank you!

Enoch and Elijah
They never died. In order to go to heaven they have to die first.

Couldn't be Moses because God Himself buried Moses. Moses died of a good old age with perfect eyesight.

Moses and Elijah .They represent the Law and the Prophets. They also appeared together with Jesus on the Mt. of Transfiguration. It is not Enoch.Read the little book of Jude, threre's a reason Satan tried to steal the body of Moses and Michael had to fight him.Lazarus was raised for a reason ,so will Moses. These guys are also mentioned in Zechariah as the one's "who stand beside the Lord of all the Earth".

i'll try! lol

The fact remains, I haven't got any literary source to definitely place the two witnesses as being anyone. The propsed witnesses coincide with particular events occuring in the Bible, the most popualr guesses are; Enoch and Elijah, since neither have died, and Moses and Elijah, since they appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Other than that, I have heard very learned individuls speculate only. I side with those that say that Elijah and Enoch will be the two witnesses.

The 2 witnesses happens during the 6th trumpet. The fall of Babylon the great happens during the 2cd trumpet (Jeremiah 51:63,64; Revelation 8:8). So no the 2 witnesses has not happened yet.

No one knows for sure. Could be two Old Testament prophets, like when Jesus was met by Moses and Elijah during the Transfiguration.

i have..we have researched this..the bible never states who these two are
but most thealogians believe they are moses and elijah..the bible says they are prophets with miraculess powers such as moses had.
read zechariah chapter 4..two olive trees are likened to joshua and zerubbabel..the first which was joshua..which means jehova-savior..a type of christ..and zerubbabel...prince of judah..he started the rebuilding of the temple and restored worship of god...he brang back the first exiles from captivity.
hope this helps...but there is no exact proof of the witnesses names.
god bless you always!

Right now; I do not know the answer to the question. I have heard speculation; that it is Moses and Elijah. However, I also recall that John the Baptist was prophocied as someother person (Elijah?).

Several older manuscripts say they will be standing before 'the God of the earth',

Since God's name is Jehovah, (Ps 83:18) and they are to witness concerning Him,

They must be Jehovah's Witnesses.

Edit ---

It can't be two of the older prophets, because they are asleep awaiting for a resurrection.

I am not exactly sure. I think one will be Moses. The other could be Paul or maybe Peter. No matter who they are, they will bring tons of people to God. But I am thankful that I'll be watching all that from Heaven. God bless you.
