It's a terrible drug. If you have other options, I would use them. Methadone would be my last drug of choice. Think twice or three times before starting this drug. It's very hard to get off of once you have started taking it.

definite, methadone is used to attend to persistent discomfort. It relatively works properly for specific varieties of discomfort -- neuropathic (nerve) discomfort case in point -- by fact methadone works the two as an opioid and an NMDA antagonist. in the U. S., many persistent discomfort victims are compelled to circulate to a methadone sanatorium and say that they are an opioid addict, by fact docs are petrified of dropping their license or perhaps their freedom by DEA. i've got faith that this unlucky subject is likewise undemanding in Canada besides.

I had kidney problems, became wildly addicted to percs. DON'T SELF TREAT!!!! It rarely works. (hell, it rarely works with medical assistance) Methadone is often worse than the original problem.
Go to an outpatient treatment center, even an inpatient. The time it takes, the perceived embarassment, is well worth the recovery. I've been clean since October 1999

After I had reconstructive surgery done on my nose, I was on percocet and oxycontin. I was on methodone for about five months, because otherwise, i was miserably sick (not to mention cold). I do suggest methadone. However, I still use vicodin and oxycontin. I started after they stopped giving me methadone because I still wanted it.
So, just be careful I guess. The stuff you're taking is hardcore addictive and the methadone will let you ease off of it, but you may still want it when you stop using it.
Hope this helped :)

My sister takes Methadone, alot of people think it is just to wean you off Heroin, (which by the way she did several years ago!) but now the pain med. doc gives it to her for her pain from severe osteoporosis, it is longer lasting than say vicodin which is taken every 4-6 hours. she takes 1 10 mg tab every 12 hours, she also is on Duragesic patches, they are both addicting, but once the severe pain is over the doc can start weaning you off of it.

Methadone is one of the most difficult drugs to wean off of. More difficult even than heroine. Don't put yourself in that predicament.
