you have to be of legal age and you need to have a bartender's license (which allows your to serve and sell alcohol), which can be obtained through a county extension. you have to take an 8 hr class, which is boring beyond belief...lol if you can stay awake and complete their little test at the end...that is it! oh and this class is usually paid for by the business owner.

Not sure about WI, but in IA you only had to be of legal age. That's it. I was trained on the job and just taught myself after that. The inspector was always OK with it and never gave me any guff. He'd just ask who all else had access to the bar, not about a certificate or anything.
