My vehicle is registered out of the state of Texas - but it is not "technically" my car..it belongs to my dad and I am paying him monthly payments. Do I have to have it registered in the state I live, even though the title is NOT in my name? He is a member of the military, and since I (was) a dependent..I am not sure of the exact rules regarding this. I am over 21, but, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the topic. Any advice or websites where I can find out more info? Thanks!

Here's the best web site to begin with. It's the Texas Dept of Transportation Vehicle registration web page. I'm sure they have some info in their FAQ and I'm sure there are some numbers you can call if you have further questions.

I think that as long as your dad has the car registered in another state LEGALLY, and his name is on the title, you're ok, but you have to make sure the registration stays in force. If he's unable to renew the registration, you'll probably have to register it in Texas.

I'm not an attorney or an expert on this matter, though, so you'd probably want to consult someone at the Texas DOT.
