I have a cat who's had two litters of kittens. She carried the first set off when they were around two months old... the second set of kittens are getting about the same age. Is there a way to prevent her from running off with them? And is the carrying off because the little was so large or because it was her first little? The first little had seven kittens and this one has only four.

she's putting them were she believes is safer. It is instinct for the mother to replace their young to either a safer place, or a larger place. Do you have a lot of people messing with the kittens? If you do make them stop.

Our cat did the same it's normal. Mother knows best for her babies and most of the time she's right. We eventually put the kittens in a comfy crate and left the door open where mommy could come and go as she pleased and she didn't move them any more.

I do agree that Momma cat needs to be spayed, both for her own health and because as it is there are a lot of kitties who don't have good homes.

Momma Cat moved her kittens because she doesn't feel where they are is safe for them. And it could be that she was even looking for homes for her babies: Some momma cats do that, though not many.

She is done with them and she doesn't want them. Spay her. I have a dog that is doing it early for her babies. They are only 3 1/2 weeks and she is being decent with me taking care of them so she doesn't have to. for about ten days Ive had a problem with her trying to throw them down the basement steps. SHe doesn't even do the basement steps and has no idea whats down there. She just doesn't want the babies.

She's moving them because she does not feel that they are safe in the current location.
