You need to get a video capture card. There are two type of capture card available. Internal and external. Internal cards are PCI based cards that plugs in to the computer inside. The external capture cards are usually USB based and it is a stand alone device that connects to your VCR and it connects to the USB of your computer. When you run the software that came with the capture device, it will recognize the device and ready to capture the video from your VCR. If you are not familiar with opening up your computer then you should get an external capture device. I would suggest buy a USB 2 with MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 support.

What you want is a "capture card". that is a pc card that is going into between the slots on the lower back of a pc computing gadget, and provides both an RCA or an S-Video enter port on your computing gadget. it really is going to truly have the application coated to allow you to capture the video. also they make a USB version of the capture card for laptops (on condition that there is not any position interior the case to operate the cardboard). With that you run a cable from the lower back of the VCR to the enter on the computing gadget, commence off the caspture application, and playu the tape. come lower back 2 hours later and also you've gotten a 2 hour action picture. note that it takes really some confusingchronic section to do video capture. Plus you'll usually want a DVD authoring application to get the action picture off your computing gadget and on to a DVD so that you will be able to view it.
