I'm a gori, so forgive my lack of knowledge. I would understand it if it was only for ceremonial reasons, but not a proper marriage as such. It was listed as fact in an English newspaper, that's where I got this information from. If this is utter nonsense, great! If not, please explain. Thanks.

Legally this is not possible but some spiritual/religious believer in India on the proposal of astrologers or priests go through such marriages to avoid bad omens that exist in their actual human to human marriage. Such fictitious marriages with animals & even plants/trees are preformed just a foolish practice which is illogical & illegal as such. But for fools, you can’t change them or their thinking. Where all this happen? It can be any where in India, mostly in villages & remote places where there exists lots of illiteracy today. Basically in states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar etc.

it's a fact. At a few remote ares, where superstions abide, people do marry their kids to animals or plants to ward off bad omen.

In India media is free to search for any activity going on. They prefere to search for stupid things and publish because the world is interested in mocking up others. Don't you agree that witchcraft is practiced by some people in US too. But it never becomes a news because, the media over there hunt for other important things.

India has ventured into space technology, India is developing as the third power, India is fastest growing manpower outsourcing territory (in the intellectual feilds of medicine, IT, engineering, etc.), India is the only nation that welcomes any kind of cultural heritage and yet, people die to find of traces of those ancestorial traditions about the nation ignoring it's potentials.

All the best...

:-)

Well these marriages are not legal but have been practised over centuries within tribal communitties and they consider this to be a lucky charm for the girl to ward off an early death. It is nonsense but some people even marry their daughters to dogs, cats, snakes and even frogs cause some priest told them that their gautra or some shi** aint right. Even some people say manglik people are bad for other people and are first married to a tree or animal. Such things only happen where education ain't right.

Get your facts right, I read about it too. It was supposed to be some sort of ceremonial thing done by some superstitious people in order to avoid some sort of calamity.
I have a lot of Indian friends (relatives too), none of them have married goats.... although some of them would have been better off married to a goat....

Quran is infallible. Hadith is not. I feel there are words in this hadith have been manipulated by MEN to serve the interest of MEN. The verses in the Quran mentioned by users above clearly show a conflict between GOD'S BOOK- Quran and History (hadith). I think this hadith would be more in harmony with the Quran if it said ~~~~~ " "I was shown the Hell-fire and SOME of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, ............

You know what they say about newspapers and the stories they publish..............! You may be a gori and for that reason alone you should not run yourself or other goris down. I am one myself (well half Indian-half English) and I take offence to you making reference to 'gori's being ignorant. In fact, I really think you should increase your knowledge by reading material that is educational.
