If you are a geek-freak I'd suggest you to smoke in nylon bags and then throw them in the recycle bin, otherwise smoke outside or on the balcony

Most employers do not consider it professional to smoke
during working hours. Most public buildings in the USA
are now Smoke Free by law. Many employers are going to smoke free grounds around the buildings, as well..
They are doing this because it is a known fact that smoking is very bad for the smoker's health and the health of anyone who breathes the second hand smoke.
In every office building or work site, there is bound to be at least one or two people who are allergic to cigarette smoke.
These people can sometimes have serious, life threatening allergic reactions to something as simple as smelling the smoke on your clothing, after you have taken a smoke break.
Do yourself and everyone else a favor and quit.
(BTW, most employers have an unwritten rule not to promote smokers.)

In the designated smoking area - this could be outside, a certain distance away from the building, off the premises, shelter or area in the car park, behind the building, whatever is decided on by your company.

Obviously outside away from the entrance.
I trained myself to not smoke during working hours. Its only 3 or 4 hours to lunch, then usually a small break, if not I can last until after work. Its not difficult at all.
Keep busy, if you find yourself thinking about smoking, then distract yourself, inhale deeply and slowly, drink water.
Staff can always smell smoke on your clothes if you take little "mini breaks". Your employer (particularly non-smokers) will not appreciate your absences.

I work in a high-rise building downtown, and there are two entrances--one in front and one to the side. Most smokers in this building go to the side entrance, but that's where most visitors to the building enter. The air is very still, and it's crowded. The front entrance isn't very often used by anyone as there is a very steep flight of stairs. It's all open air, surrounded by trees/shrubs, and there's a nice breeze most of the time. There's almost nobody out there, so I go out front.

side of the building away from the front door. also remember to spray some perfume and use a mint and wash the smell off your hands before going back into your office. Seriously. We reffer to it as the "fumigation process" lol
