I remember seeing a TV program on the scorpions at Ongar (must have been around 70's or 80's)
The station is now off the tube network, but the site is still undeveloped.
Is the colony still there?

Rdenig_male....I dobt that a few trains during the summer months would matter. The colony started when the station was still part of the Tube network (central line) and was in daily use.
IIRC, the scorpions were very small and they burrowed into the platform edges, away from where people might tread

The site is not undeveloped - trains run every Sunday during the summer - look here:- http://eorailway.co.uk/index.htm (Epping-Ongar Railway). Since trains run from Ongar I doubt if there are any scorpions left.

That story was a complete load of rubbish, started by one of the Station Foremen who worked there at the time. It was a complete hoax and he later admitted to actually buying one to put there for the benefit of the news crews !
