To me religion is a system of ceremonies and rituals steeped in a dogma that suits a particular church or denomination.
What I do for the poor, I do on my own. There's too much of politicking, human nature, and worldliness in just about any church you can think of, so I'm more inclined (hell, compelled) to stay away from them as much as possible. People just need to work out their spiritual beliefs and convictions in every day life in a manner that is beneficial to man.

Humans are made with free will. Some use that to never be religious. Others acknowledge and are greatful to a Creator for providing life to us. Fewer try to find what God would like in return.
These few learn not only God's purpose for us but, how to operate properly for the best life. For example, how parents should bring up children. I had the TV on and Dr. Phil was on with a bully father. The whole family was in chaos. Bible principles show the role each person plays in a happy family life so kids grow into adults to be proud of, not prison bait.

Most religions have a built in 'we are the only ones who are right about God' clause. Some also have a built in 'save everybody else' clause. Until evangelists quit being evangelists and we use a lot more tolerance, nothing can change. It's not likely that organized religions will all change their practices, so zealots will forever be in charge of the world. Religious wars will continue to flourish. Religion sprouted from myth, which sprouted from ignorance. For instance, we needed ways to explain why the seasons changed, so we invented Demeter. But now we understand so much more about science so now we study greek gods as mythology. We needed to blame something for the bad things in life, so we invented Satan and his hell. We needed to think there was more to this existence than the imperfect life we all have. So we invented heaven, the perfect place. Once we got started on a religious path, we handed it down to our families as fact and tradition. People in power saw religion as a convenient way to control and exploit ignorant people. There are far more ignorant people than educated people, and unfortunately, you can teach a person everything in a book, but you can't teach him to be smart. Anyway, my answer would be to get people to be tolerant.

People in general by nature are Kindly, Caring and Helpful... and of course Selfish, Greedy and Jealous. If humanity in general can focus a little MORE on the benevolent virtues we all already have, the world would be a lot better off. We don't need religion to learn that, such qualities are inherent or at least they have been taught to Children for generations...from Grandma to grandchild, Mother to daughter, Uncle to nephew etc etc

Yes,by not being religious in a practice that expresses the letter of the law, but by faith in Love in Christ.
Yes,helping the poor is something beautiful, and is done by Love.
There is a religion that supersedes any other and no matter what one believes does bring any together, in agreement ,and it is the religion of Love.

Religion seems to be a tool to attain spirituallity. Pray that God will send you a Christed Saint with the power to baptize in spirit., There are a great many alive today. Did you know christianity, budhism and islam have their roots in Siddha Yoga & vedic philosophy from india? Jesus was a siddha yoga Guru, though he was probably called and essene. See syda.org/theguru and stephenknapp.com/articles-to-read then click on christianities roots in vedic philosophy.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Religion isn't the answer to helping the world. It's a personal help, to show you how to live. God saves his people one at a time. Religion is part of the truth, but by itself it is not the truth. The truth is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The bible says "Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house." Proverbs 24:27. If we will seek God then he will make us light in the world. Our lives will be part of the solution to the pain and suffering of our neighbor.

It is not about helping the poor and not everyone will ever agree on religious doctrine just as not everyone will go to heaven. Consensus does not make anything true.
Read the Bible. Study the Bible (those are two separate acts). You may not become religious, but you will gain knowledge.

thats the best option if people are questioned hard enough they have to accept they have no evidence and only faith in what they believe. as such they could be a right as any one else. so i say stop making things up - its ok in a philosophy class where you can let your imagination of what the world outside our perception could really be like. but apart from that people should just accept we do not know if there is a god and if there is what if anything they expect from us etc.

John 13:35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.
If a religion is following this, its the true one.
