That would depend on how was the day prior to the day off. It it was a hectic, exhaustive and sleepless night duty, absolutely the day off will be spent taking rest and sleep. If the doctor is a family man, definitely a time would be spent with the family ( especially if a day off is not always easy). If a doctor is single, some time would be spent for some personal and social life. There are different things a doctor could do during he day off. Just like anyone, a doctor is the same human being as others so what an ordinary person does, applies to the doctors as well.My husband is a doctor and he would spare some of his time with the kids during his day off- shopping, playing,outing or whatever that would not make the kids feel they are being neglected because of his work.

I spend time with my family, enjoy hobbies (like geocaching and podcasting), catch up on sleep, play with my horses and cats, help kids with homework, mow the yard... all the stuff anybody else would do on a day off.
I don't play golf.

The Dr's I work with spend time with their family, catch up on errands and chores, take a day trip or mini vacation to rest, go shopping etc etc...

The same thing the rest of us do, spend time with friend or family, engage in an activity or sport they enjoy, errands, etc. They are just normal people you know....
