To be perfectly honest I am sick of the redicilously out-moded concepts that they rither violently force down people's throats or make such a fuss about everything you have no choice but to listen. I am not religious but very spiritual, I believe you can have a relationship with God without having to follow rediculously outdated religious dogma. I do think religions are a good way to bring people together and they can do some good in communities; the basic premise of "love thy neighbour" cant be a bad thing to follow after all.
I live in London and our lovely capital city has been taken over with Muslims, for who knows what reason. I was walking in the East End yesterday and saw a sticker promoting a "Muslim March" against the "vilification on Islam by the western media". It is surely hard to vilify something if it is pure. All we ever see are Muslims burning effegies of pretty much anything they can think of, Muslims being arrested an tried (and recently convicted) of trying to blow us up for paying our taxes, welcoming you into our country and giving you the benefit of the welfare state and freedom our grandparents fought to protect. I can accept that it is perhaps a minority, and that it is maybe over-hyped, but these things are undeniably hapenning. I am not even allowed Christmas decorations in my office because of possible offence to Muslims. However I am not allowed to demand a member of staff misses Friday prayers because I have an important deadline to make. Is there not some inconsistency here? If you DECIDE to move to a country, you are bound of FIT IN with their existing culture. Britain is not Multi Cultural, it is British Cultural! If you don't like it, don't live here, it seems very straight forward to me. If I went to Bangladesh and was to start trying to instill Christian culture and wear clothes that were completely out of place, I would hate to think how long I would last! I am not being racist, the colour of someone's skin makes absolutely no difference to the type of person they are. Their behaviours do however impact on the type of person they are. I believe that if you chose to come to Britain and take advantage of our culture then you need to fit in. You cant go around taking offence to things that have existed for centuries, and try and uphold CULTURAL (note, not religious) traditions like full face veils, arranged marriages and continue to speak your native language with NO EFFORT to learn our native language, and expect people to be happy with it. I like with a family of six Bengali Muslims for over a year when I was younger, and I can tell anyone that thinks otherwise, these traditions are upheld only in front of the older generation. The younger generation in general are rebelling against them, with a minority going the other way and becoming extremists.

So my point is, we aren't vilifying you, you are doing it to yourselves. If you want to be accepted, then you as a community must shape up, or ship out.

To clarify, I am not being racist. I dont care if you are black, white or green, gay, straight or a monkey lover. You cant judge someone on one characteristic, it is their behaviour and ethics that make them who they are.

I do not hate Muslims, and welcome them to Britain, as I have said I have lived with them in the past and still live in a predominately Muslim area. What I am saying is that if you decide to move here, for the obvious benefits of having a higher chance of a good standard of living, then that is a free choice that you make (I am not talking about political asylum seekers; an entirely different sort of immigration) and you must accept that you are taking advantage of the benefits a culture has produced, so you must endevour to become part of that culture. Britain is wealthy because of a highly valued British culture and society. Muslim cultures in general aren't very rich, at least in terms of the distribution of wealth, so fitting in is all the more important

This is pretty much what the US goes through all the time, but not just with Muslims. We have people pouring into our country illegally all the time, as well as those who immigrate legally. Many of them still think they they should have the right to everything that US citizens have yet don't make an effort to learn the language or the customs of our country.
Hey and while we're at it, the British and Europeans decided that they had a right to the country now called the US even though it was already occupied.
They didn't bother to learn the languages or customs of the Native Americans.
We could all go on and on and complain about this or that person, this or that group of people, this or that religion, but what good does that do?
Wouldn't be better to offer the hand of friendship and help them to make suitable adjustments to the countries they are moving into?
I believe that it is important to fit yourself into your adopted country, but I also believe that it is very important to keep your own culture and language.
If we were a totally homogenized world it would be a really boring place to live. No Indian, Thai, Chinese, etc food, no interesting artifacts or art in general, it would all be the same old stuff.
I know that all this can be hard if one "side" or the other won't do their part, but these are facts of life in this century, so we have to find ways to make it work or we will find ourselves devolving into a much more barbaric state than we already have.

Here in Canada we have recently took action to bring back healthy balance into our multicultural community. We have now what we call the 'reasonable accommodation' Example: A young girl is a member if a soccer team, she wants to wear her veil while playing, the person in authority have decided that she can not wear it for security reason. This is a small exemple but the list is endless. Before we would just let any body do anything even wear small weapons on them because they claimed it was religious. We`ve put a stop to this. London being physically close the the middle-East may attract more conservative Muslim, as for us we attract a lot of entrepreneur who wants to change their life and often they want to run away from those very religious practices.

All the Muslim I know are good people that are as chocked as you about those extremists that seams to have all the attention by the media.

Well if you just learn some"tolerance" you would not feel sick of them....i think you are doing the same while expecting them to follow your way and leave their own..I m sure they won't shout for the nakedness of your women, for pork, alcohal and other things which are not allowed in islam....so why you have problem with their scarves and all...and Btw if they are living in you country, you are not treating them as guests..rather i m sure they would be doing some "work" for their living..so they owe only a land to you, rest they are on their own...!! and i think you should let them on their own...!few fanatics and redicals can not represent the whole community..this is very simple thing and does not need much brain to understand this reality.Good and bad people are there in every community.........can you deny that thre are much more crimes where your own people are involved?? and not the muslims? Rap, robbery, murders ect ?? don't tell me that your country is free of them......why these thing do not make you sick?? But when a muslim woman wear a hijab you feel sick.........Sould i say you are very much intolerant person..who hate other community just for their believes and tradition but love the flaws in their society??

Have A Good Day !

I every religon, society, and culture there are extremists, you cannot point the finger at the muslims without carfefully considering that every religon has its extremists, currently though muslims seem to be the latest trend, and you also have to understand that most of the muslims that come to the UK are of a very poor standard in thier own country, and as in any poor country, religon plays a large role in creating the social and cultural norms, and it is the only hope that these people have to hold on to.
.
People seem to forget that Islam is a personal belief not a diesiese, and that not all muslims are bad and will end up blowing the world up!

like christian evangalists there are muslim evangalists and like christian and jewish extremists there are muslim extremists.
muslims just seem to be in the spotlight more often because of thier recent outrageous acts, and because they are so many.most of the extremists if you notice are from poor countries like pakistan, afgahnistan, iraq, syria, yemen, (saudi arabia not poor but the origin of all extremism) egypt and lebanon.

There are many sects in islam, Wahabism one of the most extreme and radical in thoughts, sufism, sunnism, shiaa's, salafism is
the second most extreme in thought and practice.

Each of these sects interprets the Quran and the religon differently than the other, very much like christian and jewish sects.
I am muslim but am not veiled nor so i believe in the wearing hijab as i believe that it is an old bedoin tradition to protect the people from the scorching desert sun, to support my theory in many arab countries the men also wear a head dress to protect them from the sun, and as for the covering of the face, this is actually forbidden by islam, and is only done by wahabi and salafi sects.

If you really want someone to blame then you should blame your government for not providing the proper education and implementing stricter rules on imigrants and refugees, why doesnt the UK enforce a law stating that any imigrant should know a minimum level of english and provide an orientation course of English customs and traditions, why doesnt the UK only grant citezenship after a certain probational period making sure that the applicant has grown used to the surrounding enviroment, and refusing to grant citezenship on the basis that the applicant cannot phycologically adapt to the surrounding enviroment.

The west always claims that all people are equal and that people are not judged based on thier origin, color, or religon, but all this is nothing but a load of crap because arabs regadless of thier religon are all labled as muslim extremists, without really being sure if that arab is actually muslim.

If you really want to go into the subject of respecting the culture and ways of a country then you should know that many UK tourists go to arab or muslim countries and have no respect for the people nor the culture, i live in a top tourist destnation frequented by UK tourists and knowing that theyare in a arab country doesnt stop them from sitting topless on the beach or wearing next to nothing in the street, which is not acceptable in our society nor our culture.
Practice what you preach.

For someone who claims to be "very spiritual" you dont show much tolerance, you seem to be tarring all muslims with the same brush, your world must be very small even though u claim to live in London.

You have so many questions about these people but you dont attempt to have them answered so you decide to stifle and poison your psyche in your own prejudicial thinking.

Your arguements are also very idiotic, its as if everyone else has to change to suit your needs. Anyhow its pretty clear you are feeding us a load of BS to justify your hatred of muslims. Finish enjoying your rant and grow up please.

Yeah fair enough if you move to someone else's country, the onus should be on you to adopt their laws and integrate.

That doesn't mean you have to turn your back on your own culture or religion, just bring the best of it along with you, and leave the extemism behind.

It's a very fine line, that is why it's caused so much controversy and fired up so many people.

Just my opinion.

This is a hard question. I live in the United States. I have served on interfaith committees and groups with Muslims, Jews, and Bahai. I do know that there are enlightened Muslims, as there are enlightened people in every spiritual path. And there are also people who use their "religion" for oppression, hatred, torture and murder. No "religion" is exempt from these fanatics.

But, the negative activities of many Muslims these days do harm to all Muslims of good will. I know that it saddens and embarrasses them as much as freaks like Anne Coulter sadden me.

No, not really, but I have little use for most overly religious fundamentalists of any stripe. They tear down rather than create and seem very keen on condemning. They use religion like a club.

In the US the radical Christians have take over our government and look how great we're doing.

ALLAHUMMA SALLI WASALLIM WABARIK ALA SAYYIDINA MUHAMMADINIL FAATIHI LIMA UGHLIQA WAL KHAATIMI LIMA SABAKA WAN NAASIRIL HAQQA BIL HAQQI WAL HAADI ILA SIRAATIKAL MUSTAQEEMI SALLAL LAAHU ALAIHI WA ALA AALI WA ASHABIHI HAQQA QADRIHI MIQDAARIHIL AZEEM. "O Allah! May Thy grace, peace and blessings rest on Muhammad, our Master, who opens that which is closed, and closes that which is preceded, who helps truth with truth, and who guided mankind to Thy straight path. May blessings of Allah be on him and his Family and Companions as according to his exalted position befitting his merit and his high rank". Actually, this Durood Shareef is in the Holy Quran; but then it was kept a secret. Hazrat Abu-Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu), the first Caliph of Islam, used to recite it daily without fail. Some narrations say that it is because of this Durood that he was awarded the title of "Siddique" which means "Testifier to the Truth". Hazrat Abul Muqqarab (radi Allahu anhu) says that a man's total sins will be washed away if he recites Durood-e-Fath for forty days continuously. Hazrat Shaikh Muhammad Bakari (radi Allahu anhu) says that the recitation of Durood-e-Fath once a day relieves the reciter from the Fire of Hell. Hazrat Syed Ahmed Hillam (radi Allahu anhu) says that Durood-e- Fath was the most favourite routine of Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam, Sheikh Abdul Qaadir Jilani (radi Allahu anhu) of Baghdad Shareef. The great Saints also say that Durood-e-Fath is actual and real light. Hazrat Sheikh Yusuf Bin Ismail (radi Allahu anhu) says that this Durood Shareef is the greatest mystery of Allah. It brings 100% success and happiness to the reciter. In fact, this Durood Shareef brings prosperity and favour and solves all the complex problems by the Grace of Allah. When a man recites this Durood Shareef, the Angels of Allah surround him, mercy covers him and peace starts descending on him.
