i am 16years old. I wonder what it means to be a christian. I have always thought of something bigger and complex then the world. Who is god and what does he mean to you? i dont really like alot of the christian kids at my school(not because of their religion). but because they are often really out there and quite odd. Am i to young to decide whether to become a christian or should i be making a decision now? i feel obliged and i want to but i dont know how to make that intial step and i feel reluctant to take that. none of my friends are religous and id say i prefer hanging out with them and going to parties than youth group at the local church. religion can be abit confusing and what it means

If you're asking these questions it's because the Holy Spirit is talking to you. I know that your friends seem important to you, but ultimately, it's your relationship with Jesus that's going to matter.

You first step is to admit your a sinner and tell God you're sorry, and ask Him into your heart. You'll be amazed how He'll change your attitude about hanging out.

All of us are on either one of two roads. One is heading towards Heaven, the other Hell. It's up to you to pick which road you want to be on.

No it not too young. The thing is whether deciding for true worship of God or false worship, it must be done with study and reason.

Base important decisions about your life on what you can learn and what you want out of life. It will change at different points in your life. One party really doesn't mean much over the years of your life. It could change your life. Drinking or drugs served and driving into an accident, can change everything afterwards.

The thing that the young have trouble understanding is there are consequences to everything even small stuff. The choice of relgion is a big step. It means life, both here and now and the future. It can be done at 16 if you find the right one.

For me, I had help from my parents as Jehovah's Witnesses. I researched different beliefs while young and many did not make sense. That's the first clue. A God of order would not have anything that did not make sense.

Next, follow the logic here, a Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Jesus. Jesus accepted and quoted the writings of what is popularly called the old testament and personally knew the writers of the rest of the books of the Bible. Christians must then believe what Jesus held dear and avoid what he was against. So the next logical step is does the perspective religion only follow what the Bible says?

The trinity is not in the Bible. It is from paganism. The Bible says just the opposite. Jehovah and Jesus are seperate individuals and holy spirit isn't a person. If the religion teaches that, it can't be correct. Look elsewhere.

Do they use God's name. It is in your Bible at Psalms 83: 18. God is a title. If you are close to a person do you use their name? Do you just say "Hey you!" all the time? In the Lord's Prayer it says, "Haloed be thy name." or let your name be worshiped and known. Is this the first time you have heard this? The right choice would use God's name. Does that make sense to you?

Jehovah wants pure worship as is his due as creator. He allows humans free moral choice to worship anyway they want no matter how stupid it might be. He doesn't have to reward stupidity. In the Bible is the one way Jehovah set out for worship and way of life He approves. We can find it or not. Isn't that a wonderful thing.

You are young. Young people are supposed to be confused. But you show remarkable intelligence and clarity of thoughtwith your question. Analyze what you just wrote: I feel obliged....i prefer hanging out....than the youth group at church.

My best advice to you is to research all you can about all of the world's religions, past and present. Then you can make an informed decision. Think for yourself, never let anyone try to "convert" you. Christianity is a majority in this country, but there are many other beliefs out there. Some of us believe that the univerese is pretty big and complex by itself.

Christian means a follower of Christ, and you are right there is something bigger and more complex than the world...God because he made it. Christianity basically means living a life of awareness that there is a God and that he had a purpose for creating you and everyone else and christianity is about, (not in its entirity) living in that purpose and design of what he intended things to be.

God is the supreme being, he is like the ultimate there is nothing or anyone bigger than him, and he is also a father, in his characteristics, meaning loving , caring , protecting, providing, and so many others that make him seem more like the father you never had or have, just better.

What God means to me? Everything, i couldnt possibly describe myself outside of God, i believe i have no meaning outside of God , he is my joy, my direction when i need it , my peace.... i could go on and on.

Christianity is about the heart, not so much the physical, its about loving God and what he says and the rest kinda plays itself out , so no need to worry that you will be like the christian kids in school let God show you how to be a christian you will be surprised how different you end up, i believe he has no intention of making us all the same believe me. Its you and him about how he allows you to understand him and understand your life. And no you are never too young or too old to know God he has actually been waiting for you to come around.

Religion especially christianity is not confusing its the ideas of dos and donts not necessarily set by God but the non christians actually... that seem to make it hard, i say its simple its recognising there is a God and having God Lead your life the rest are details.

Hope i have helped if you need to know more email or im me

No, never is to early. I say to you like a mother. Is easy to understand God in the Saint Trinity at the Catholic church.
Go to the catholic church in each Sunday, assist at a mass, your soul will fell the peace, the joy, patience. You will understand much from what the priest will say. Go to the bookcase, read first the New Testament ( Bible part II), read the Catholic catechism book.
If you will decide you for follow the catholic believe in God, you will ask the priest of that church you want to baptize you in the Name of God in The Saint Trinity at that church.
Your believe is an intim thing between you and Jesus Christ.
With time you will ask God for forgive your sins, such as you will see other men do that in the church. God Bless you.

You do not want religion, you want the truth about God and your purpose for being here. The only one who has that information is the Spirit of truth who lives inside you. When I tell you that God is one God, God is love, God does not make up dozens of rules for us to follow and threaten harsh punishment for failing to do so, does your intuition recognize this as true? The Spirit of truth will tell you where the inspired scriptures are, what they mean, and how to apply them in your life.

I'm young....17. A friend of mine had the same questions you do. I talked to him to try to get him to accept Christ. He died before making that decision.

Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me".

No one is too young to put off that decision, you may not be able to make it tomorrow.

Its never to early or late

2 Timothy 3:16,17 "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."

No you are not too young to become a Christian, you are more than likely feeling the call from Christ deep within, you are young and you have the chance to become the type of Christian that Jesus wants, one who lives it rather than spouting about it like the fundamentalists do.

Take your time in deciding which, if any, religion to follow. Examine the teachings of a religion and ask people about them so you understand what is considered acceptable and what isn't. I hope you find what you're looking for.
