I ask this question in response to JesusM's question, I quote: "Have you seen God that you are brave enough to say that there are homorsexual like God? Is there any homorsexual God?"

The Reverend C: yes you are right, I know that the prudish Victorian settlers in NZ mutilated the native Maori carvings to make them more aceptable to their prudish Christian sensibilities, there is a whole store-room full of severed wooden carved male members in the auckland Museum, talk about literally & symbolically emasculating a race of native people and their culture.

Zeus supposedly had a thing for teenage Ganymede, cup-bearer to the gods. But oddly enough, I don't remember any other references to homosexual behavior among the Greek or Roman gods, just among the mortals of their time. Considering that pederasty was commonplace among the Athenians during the Classical period, you'd have thought they would have some supporting stories to tell about like-minded gods.

Many ancient gods were involved in same sex hanky panky. Much of the mythology has been altered to clean it up for christian consumtion. Why they cared what a bunch of pagan gods did is beyond me. Did you know that 90% of the Egyptian artifacts that were uncovered were locked away by Victorian era scholars who objected to the blatantly sexual content. Most of the god statues were nude with exagerted "personal" features.
