Is it true that Venice Beach is more dangerous on certain days of the week rather than others?

Okay all you losers that don't live anywhere near Venice Beach. Listen to a local.

It is full of culture and colorful people.

Lots of people live, work, and play in Venice Beach seven days a week. The median home price in Venice Beach is about one million dollars. Now do you think the gangs can really afford to live here?

There are many things to do and see great restaurants and fantastic shopping and people watching.

Believe me I have been mugged in trendy West Hollywood. Anywhere can be potentially unsafe if you
really think about it. I would feel comfortable visiting any day of the week.

It is not dangerous or unsafe. I wouldn't walk through a dark alley at 3am anywhere.

Well, Venice Beach is a crazy location no matter when you go. It is best to go on Saturday or Sunday and it is also best to be out of the area by night time. As soon as the shops start closing, you should leave.

Why? Because Venice Beach is home to a large portion of Los Angeles counties homeless population. And these aren't the down on their luck kind. These are the "prefer this lifestyle," kind or the "drugs drove me to this lifestyle," kind.

So, go to the beach all you want from 9am to 8pm. But the city isn't a great place during the eavening and expect it to look like night of the living dead once the sun goes down.

If I had a nickel for every time I didn't heed my own words and I stayed out after dark and walked around the area and got into an altercation with a homeless person because they were delusional and tripping, I'd have an aweful lot of pickels.

A few years ago, rival gangs would cruise Venice Beach on Sunday nights, looking for a rumble. Police cracked down on that quite awhile ago.

Venice Beach is best on Saturday and Sunday, when there are more people to watch, entertainers, etc. While there may be more incidents of crime, that actually makes it safer in my book, since you have less of a chance of something happening to you (more people reduces the risk per person). I still would not hang around at night, when the strange people outnumber the normal ones.

Venice Beach where the shops and entertainers are is simply disgusting, repulsive, filthy, and dirty. I would NEVER go down there again after having gone once. Who wants to pay a donation to the gold man sprayed in gold tripping over LSD from the 70's? Or the psychic intent on stealing or ripping you off, and looks like she just got out of County USC Ward. It is not a place to take a child or children. What is there to learn?

The sand and sea is beautiful, and that's the place where I want to stay where all is beautiful and untainted and pure and natural.

Yes. It has to do with Tide level. When the moon and sun align. Their gravitational pull lifts water. Making the tides slightly more dangerous.
