I do not agree with drugs or alcoholics at all. He doesnt see a problem with it because its an addiction. The first step in the process to recovery is admitting your addicted and you need help. It is not a good idea at all to be a bartender. 6 beers daily is crazy. Yes it is a job. But there are many jobs out there. This is just going to make his addiction worse. He is going to drink more at the bar and he might even end up selling or doing crack at the bar. And going to jail. When your drunk you dont know whats wrong and right. It is def. a bad idea to bartend.

6 beers a day isn't that much. It's not like it'll give him anymore that a little buzz if that. 6 beers is nothing! An unhealthy nothing and kind of gross, but that's his choice.
Crack? Not good, he should probably get off the crack as that can only lead to problems, but that has nothing to do with work.
Working in a bar might be good for him, if he can control himself not to drink at work. That's up to him. I like to get so drunk I pass out a few times a week and that takes a hell of a lot more than 6 beers, but that doesn't mean I do it at work.
As long as he recognises his drinking and drug use as a recreational activity and exercises self control in the work place that's fine. It really depends on the extent of his problems, his impulse control and sense of responsibility. I can't judge him on his penchant for drinking or getting high alone, although, crack? Come on! Huge red flag right there.

Well, you really can't control other people's choices so don't blame yourself for this.
But really, a person in denial of their drinking and drug problems (yes, drinking everyday is a drinking problem, I should know) working in an environment where they have easy access to free beer and possibly free drugs. That sounds like a really good idea if you want to end up getting fired and eventually dieing.

********.
Six beers a day? thats questionable, but lets face it: a lot of guys who work really hard every day can put six beers back. The crack...
no good result will come of that, and the nightclub culture, well..
Your friend has got to remove, or at least distance, him/herself from situations that involve drugs and booze
working in a bar?
Please.

The job might help him realize what an alcoholic looks like. As far as the crack goes, the only way to see what one looks like is to look in the mirror. I am 2 years clean from meth and still see an addict in the mirror, just alot cuter.

if he can work in a bar I think he is an adult and although I do not think it is a good idea for him to work in a bar, he has his own age and can decide for himself. You and anyone else can tell him their point of view but when it comes to taking the decision he will do what he wants.

To work in a bar he needs to be dry (that means he can't drink). Also, most bars don't like their staff drinking in the establishment unless it is their day off. If he drinks at work, he's out of a job fast.

Very bad idea. Not only will he drink up the profits, but he may cause the owner to lose his business by doing drugs in it.
