Can someone tell me the translation of the Mexican title novela "la Fea Mas Bella?" Has anyone else noticed that this novela is the inspiration for Ugly Betty?

the straight translation, word by word, is- adjusted for english speakers:
La = the
Fea = Ugly
Mas = Most
Bella = Beautiful
The Ugly Most Beautiful
of course, since the title in spanish conveys that the person is female and ugly, the proper translation into english would be:
the most beautiful ugly woman (girl, dame, female, femme, etc)
in spanish "Fea" already tells you that the person you are talking about is not only ugly but also a female.

'La Fea Mas Bella'----'The Prettiest Ugly' or 'The Most Beautiful Ugly'
The show 'Ugly Betty' is the same thing as the Mexican novela 'La Fea Mas Bella'...I just think that they chose the title 'Ugly Betty' because it sounds a lot better than the literal translation.

The original "la fea mas bella" is from Columbia,its been remade several times in different countries including Mexico,the u.s. etc.
the Mexican version recently finished in Mexico(in march) and was the most highest rated novela in history,as well as one of the longest running.(most novelas only run 2-3 months where as la fea mas bella ran for more than a year.)

La Fea Mas Bella is basically, "The most beautiful of the ugly".
