Wrong, there would be more murders. Take for instance the Crusades and Jihads of the past (and present). The problem is that the more religious people are, the more likely they will become extremists that are intolerant of others with different beliefs.

the crusaders were very religious. so was the inquisition. then there's the concept of jihad. religion is often a cause for war. religious fanatics have caused more wars than anything else. too much religion makes fundamentalists, and fundamentalists use religion to justify killing. look at al-qaeda.
my answer is no, being more religious would not result in less murders, there would be more murders. each individual being a good person would mean there would be less murders.

Since religions have caused more blood shed than anyone else on the planet in the whole history of mankind, it is certainly not the fact that people would be more religious that would make a difference! It's if everyone got the accurate knowledge of the true God enough to find out the truths of His wisdom and ways and were willing to learn the true meaning of His kind of love, as quoted in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 and prayed for more of the fruits of his spirit from Galatians 5:21-22, in spirit and truth as mentioned at John 4:24, then yes! for sure there would be less crime and murder. Why! if all people obeyed the commandments even as the Witnesse do, there would be no need for even prisons as not just one judge told me that even though they get every other denomination in their court room, they have yet to see one of Jehovah's Witnesses accused of any crime in there!!! That speaks volumes! (In my book anyway!) But then again, in my book, the Witnesses happen to be simple Bible Students and not religious fanatics who for any excuse welcome killing in the name of God!!!

Dear Pinky.
You have so far a lot of blah blah and a total disassociation from reality. No matter which religion you care to use for this thought experiment it will not affect the crime rate whatsoever. Religion is not an effective deterrent of crime. Most murders occur in the heat of the moment when people lose control for a few minutes. The spectrum covers everybody from the most religious to the hardcore atheists, from the totally ignorant and uneducated to the top echelon of knowledge. From Black to white and all colors in between.eople can be criminals because of religion or despite religion. No legal system has proved to be an efficient deterrent of crime. The reasons people commit illegal acts is incredibly varied and complicated. So much so that religion is just a small item on the vast agenda of parameters.

It depends on which religion you're talking about, some religions are against murder and killings... but if you make the right excuse based on their holy text then, Murder is justified as Divine Sactioned Killing.

Replace Murder for any other crime, the result is still the same... all they need is the right excuse, coupled with a powerful organisation body to support that claim and the 10 commandments ( any commandments or law ) can go down the drain...

Have you seen what's going on in the Middle East on the news lately? I've watched Muslims killing Jews, and Jews killing Muslims, and Christians killing both Muslims and Jews, on the news since I was a little kid. These people are all highly religious. Religions don't do jack to stop murders from occurring.

Nope, the bible is fraught with crimes of passion. I think that there are more people on the planet now so the stats are skewed a bit. PS: Religious is no longer a confirmation of purity. I have observed religious folks to be pretty imperfect too. Sometimes worse...Sometimes scary..just like everyone else.

Look around the world... what do you see... I see wars and death in the name of religion. So, my answer is NO. I think love, acceptance, spirituality, and brother/sisterhood would be an answer to less murders. But then again, there are always the sickos out there that enjoy taking lives. Good luck with your paper.

Do you realize that over 100 million have been killed in the name of God by religious people already? On 9/11 the hijackers said that they were doing it for God. When will the religion/sectarian killing end? If only God would get the religions to agree on God.

Actually, religion is the main reason why wars (insert here "murder") are started. So, no. I think if more people were "religious" there would be less tolerance and more murder.
