"man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment" (Hebrews 9:27)
There is a soul, it is the you who asks the question and the person who left your mother's body. We face God at death, and we answer for our relationship with Him or lack thereof. There are two destinations for the souls of people. One is to stay forever in the presence of God, one day to be rejoined with glorified bodies, and the other is to be banished from the presence of heaven to exist where God does not enjoy fellowship with its inhabitants.
The choice you want to make is destination one, and it comes only through Jesus Christ.

I believe that their body stays and decomposes, and there spirit goes to either Spirit Paradise (Luke 23:39-43 ; 1 Pet 3:18-20 ; 2 Cor 12:4 ; Rev 14:13) or Spirit Prison (Isa 24:22 ; 1 Pet 3:19, 4:6) where they can be converted or stay there. Some where inbetween they get ressurected (1 Cor 15:21-22 ; Matt 27:52-53 ; John 5:28-29). Then they live 1000 years of peace, The Millenium (Matt 25:31 ; Rev 20:4-5). Next they get a second ressurection (1 Cor 15:21-23 ; Rev 20:5). Then there is the Final Judjment (Rev 20:12-14) for sins not repented for. Next, depending on the sins you either go to the Celestial Kingdom (1 Cor 15:40-42 ; 2 Cor 12:2 ; Rev 21:7) which is the highest, Terrestrial Kingdom (1 Cor 15:40-42) in the middle, and then the Telestial Kingdom (1 Cor 15:40-42) which is the second lowest (the lowest is known as Outer Darkness, or Hell). From there we believe we live enternally. This is my religion, I'm LDS.

Am not trying to be an expert but i read some about the after life.
The world is made of two aspects : the incorporeal and the corporeal. like others in this column said, death is the end of "being" but it leaves behind the soul or the very thing that resides in the flesh that has died.
This soul moves into another plane leaving behind the earthly plane. A soul that is earth-bound or fails to move on to where it should be needs a sort of "letting go" by those to whom it has been attached bakc then. This the result of prayers and .. er.. as far as i know.. the power of determination or acceptance of those left behind who are living to let go of the memory that such person has ceased to be.

We are all HUMAN BEINGS. Notice the 2 words: Human refers to the physical form, the body; and Being is the spiritual part of us, the Life Force, the Soul. The soul works through the body, very much like a driver driving the car. Once the driver gets out of the car, or switches off the engine the car stands still. Using the same anology, when the car is in such bad condition that it will not move anymore, despite the amount of overhaul done to it, the driver has no choice but to discard it and get a new car. In your mother's case, the body has deteriorated so much that it no longer supports the soul that inhabits it. Trying to prolong her life in such a body will only prolong her suffering cos there won't be any quality in her life. It's better to allow her to leave in peace so that the soul can continue its existence in another new 'car' or body. Yes, after leaving one body (what we describe as 'death') the soul will re-incarnate into another body. The soul of your mother has gone to take re-birth in another body. Take comfort in the thought that she is no longer in physical discomfort and is now driving a brand new car with all its controls working properly! I hope this helps.

the body of man is bound 2 decay after his death, so is ur mom's. Now the soul, after leaving the body, will penetrate into the atmosphere which has been created by that person's habit patterns, who is your mama, for instance.

She's dead. I'm very sorry, but there is nothing. Nothing happens to us when we die. Thats just it we're dead. There is nothing after this, therre are no souls, no heaven, and no hell. When you die you yourself cease to be. You have to accept it and move on. Don't be sad about her being gone, remember all the good times you had and never forget her.

A person who has passed away, their spirit, at that moment will either go to heaven or hell. If they are saved they will go to heaven, and if not, then hell. I am very sorry for your loss, my mom died when i was 15 yrs old, that was over 20 yrs ago and i still miss her as if it were yesterday.

Trust in what you want to trust. If you truly wish to see her again, you might well do that one day. In the meanwhile, she lives on in your heart and mind. No one knows what happens after death. You must decide your opinion on this matter.

The Bible tells us the dead are conscious of nothing. Your mum is in no pain. She feels no pleasure or pain. She is asleep.-- Eccles. 9: 5-6; Ezekial 18: 4
