Selection of guru is very important. For this you need the blessings of God.When you have the strongest urge to have a guru, follow him as best as possible. But there may be a time when your conscience pricks you and you strongly feel that what guru says goes against it, then of course, you bow out or disagree politely.

Love only the teachings and not your teacher or Guru. If u do that u will end up as a frustrated soul as ur Guru or teacher will use u as a device for his/her personal benefits and would not do anything for u. So detach urself before it is too late. U r with a Guru for ur upliftment if u become too useful to Guru u will be used as a doormat only. U must love urself and look after ur interest. Do not follow the Guru blindly if u want to progress. Do not go by books dialogue. A selfless Guru is not available in Kaliyug. Look after ur self. Examine ur progress. Has ur guru elevated ur thought process and is there a change in ur life after coming in contact with the Guru if so follow him otherwise leave him in time and lead ur own life. Trust God, seek guidance from a temple idol as God will never forsake u. When u r disillusioned with ur Guru or World God will take u in His fold as He loves his creation. Do not give importance to any other person. Real Guru is God only. Rest are just teachers, learn and practice teachings only and do not attach urself with Guru or teacher.

It is not a dead line that a guru or a teacher will always be right. But if the teacher is older and has various experiences in life as per the age, no need to argue but try to prove him with some examples or material or any other source that what he is inculcating in the students is wrong. Might be he will react negitively but don't worry slowly and slowly he will understand you and your feelings.
But I ones again request you to raise the question of being wrong ( teacher ) when you are fully confident and can prove the fact.
best of luck.

Nope. You can love your teacher and still have a difference of opinion. When you have friends you have disagreements but you are still friends. When you are married or in a relationship you will have disagreements but you stay with the person. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you can't still like the person. You should never do anything blindly. Find out the facts and go with your gut feeling. If you doubt something your teacher tells you then talk to the teacher so you can let them know you don't agree.

The duty of a student is to respect the Guru for his knowledge, and for the efforts he is putting in to impart that knowledge to you. The best way youcan thank him is by applying the knowledge for rightful purposes.
Blindly following a Guru, would be kind of an insult for the Guru himself, as the student won't be applying the knowledge by himself, but still using someone else's wisdom to practice the paths of life.
All the best...

Lord Sri Krishna sets up the process in Bhagavad gita 4.34;
Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.
Excerpts from the purport by Prabhupada,
In this verse, both blind following and absurd inquiries are condemned. Not only should one hear submissively from the spiritual master, but one must also get a clear understanding from him, in submission and service and inquiries. A bona fide spiritual master is by nature very kind toward the disciple. Therefore when the student is submissive and is always ready to render service, the reciprocation of knowledge and inquiries becomes perfect.

When you have accepted Him as your Guru, there is nothing wrong in obeying him completely. Only before accepting, you can have a choice and not after accepting.

I have never had a physical guru. The real guru is inside so to speak. But if a guru appears outside and you claim that guru you should do as told, if not he/she is no longer your guru for you have lost the trust in him/her. ~ : )

No spiritual teacher will ever exploit you. He could however ask you to things which are under your control and within your reach. It would be better for you to implement them as it is for your own good, not his. Implementing his reasonable commands would amount to surrendering your ego at the feet of your teacher. That would help you in surrendering your sins to him easily and in return, you can fulfill all your material and other desires. If you start getting subjective about your spiritual teacher, then you can never hope to fulfill your objectives/goals that you expect from him.
