if God actually did create all animals, why did he create animals like grasshoppers and black widow spiders etc in such a way that after copulation, the female EATS the male?
please don't give vague answers like "God works in mysterious ways" or "how do we know for sure" because when it comes to Gods existence, you seem extremely sure of yourselves, just based on "faith".
in science there's a reason for this,it's because the male's body contains nutrients that would benefit the little ones.
what's the answer in creationism? why would God PURPOSELY create some animals like this?couldn't he have DESIGNED them in such a way that they'd get that nutrition in another method rather than this? or is God just simply sadictic?

If Natural selection and millions of years could not give grasshoppers a better way to live, then evolution is really sadistic. The sword cuts both ways.

I love the "fall of man" and "sin" answers people are giving. Really what sin could a grasshopper or spider have commited and better yet why would God punish creatures that had nothing to do with the "fall of man"? The real answer is for species survival. All species kill but only the human species kills for the pleasure of it. That being said humans are the only creature with a moral compass. In the wild only the strong survive, not so for the human factor.
Did God create this world? Something caused it whether it be chance or a Supreme Being.

Dear Annie,
I do not know why God created animals like this. There are many things that I do not know. I do not understand how God can be three-in-one, but I believe.
The alternative to belief in animal life created by God, is evolution. My understanding of this theory is that humans evolved from primates and that these primates evolved from less-developed primates which evolved from some lower species. Taken to its ultimate starting point, this theory suggests that we humans, blue whales, the spiders you wrote about, the yeast that ferments beer, the salmon which you may have just eaten, and all other living animals all evolved from the same single-celled animal.
How did that cell, all of a sudden, spring to life? Scientists can put a man on the moon, they have mapped the human genome, they can transplant both heart and lungs at the same time and they can tell you, down to the individual atom, what a single cell is made of. They cannot create that cell. Oh yes, scientist can ‘create’ a test-tube baby, but only by mixing egg and sperm, ALREADY LIVING CELLS!
How come science cannot create life from its constituent parts? If it can, please explain how.

it's an insect, for goodness sakes. get it together.
it's not like God created humans to have sex and then we females just chop off our dudes heads, hang them feet-first from the ceiling, and feed on them for 9 months, then give birth to more doomed males, and more canabalistic females.
maybe it's ironic symbolism...the threat of eminent death by decapitation does not (down to this day) prohibit the males from "copulating". maybe that's a metaphore for how sex-crazed males are and a warning that they should be more careful...the problems of promiscuous and meaningless sex is as horrible as having your head chopped off, (and just as pointless, knowing it will be the first and last time):
maybe human males should take a lesson.
or, like you said, : "how do we know for sure" until we ask him and "God works in mysterious ways" in which case, we may never know the answer to this question.
if this question keeps you from believing in God or his creation of this planet, does the answer really matter at all? insects have almost no place in the realistic scheme of things.
their insects. let's find something better to waste time on.
ps
in some animals (polar and black bears), some fish and some insects, the males are notorious for eating the young of their species in the event that no other food can be found, sometimes even their own young. mother polar and black bears avoid males of their species when they are with their cubs the same way they would avoid predators in order to protect the life of their cubs.
the females of the above-stated insect types could be heading off this danger by killing the males once the have copulated. they could be protecting their young and ensuring the survival of the species.

In preying mantises the odds of the male successfully impregnating the female increases by almost 50% if she bites his head off during coitus. Same as black widows.
You have to admire the ingenious (and sometimes very vicious) survival techniques in nature. Fortunately it's only creatures with more primitive nervous systems that get treated like this. This is the same class of animals that has the cockroach, which can live without its head until it starves to death. Even whether there is enough of a central nervous system there to feel pain is debatable.
Aren't you glad God designed it so that mankind didn't appear on the scene until bugs got small enough to step on?

God created everything to balance out....I hate bats, but without them we'd be plagued with insects...or how about snakes...they eat mice....maybe a female black widow spider tends to have more male offspring so God designed it so that he could balance out the sexes. Not the answer you wanted but the truth of it is Only God knows...get saved and someday you can ask him yourself

I believe the answer lies in the fall of man from grace. Look what happened to Adam and Eve in the garden when they sinned.
They were given authority over every living thing. The consequences of their sin not only affected them, it affected all of creation and every future generation.
I believe as a result, we see brutality in nature as well as in mankind.
This wasn't God's fault, it was Adam and Eve's for the choice they made.

What I find interestng is that you are attaching moral values to actions that you are describing as naturalistic. Why are creatures feeding themselves considered sadistic? Does that mean I am sadisitic if I work in a food slaughter house?
