I said that God created the universe in 6 days. Does anyone out there agree with me?

Sensible, you're 100% correct, there is no scientific evidence proving the Big Bang. In fact, the Big Bang shouldn't even be taught in a science class.
The definition of science is knowledge; specifically knowledge that is obtained through observation or experimentation. Since no one has observered the Big Bang, and experiments can't be carried out to validate the Big Bang, it falls outside the definition of science, and should be removed from the science class. If anything, it should be place in the philosophy class.
There is nothing in science that disproves the Bible's claim of 6 days of Creation, 6,000 years ago.

I'm not going to get medieval on you because I don't know how old you are, but I want to you read and remember what you see in this answer.

Science is how mankind progresses. It's how we went from huddling around fires in caves to creating the internet, landing on the moon, and exploring the planet and solar system.

Science isn't perfect, but it's the best way we know to learn about the universe around us. If we don't ask questions, we stagnate, and stagnation = death for a civilization.

The difference between religion and science is that religion says, "x is true because god (or some figure) says so." In religion, once an assertion is made, it can't be changed or denied, even when it's wrong. This makes religion not just an inherently flawed way of learning, but also a dangerous one. If people didn't question religion, we'd never had discovered the earth was round, or that germs caused disease. Religion can offer positive things to society, but it's not a good way to learn about the universe. Think about all the things that people thought were true 2000 years ago, that they know today are false. If these things are believed to be true by religious institutions, sometimes people will fumble around for centuries not knowing the truth, because the religions don't want to admit they made a mistake. All religions have been wrong at one time or another.

Science is also wrong a lot. This is why science doesn't just blatantly state claims, it forms hypothesis. It gathers data, and tests the data to see if it supports the hypothesis. If it does, a theory can be formed. When other people around the world perform the same tests and get the same results (especially if they don't know the other peoples results) the theory becomes stronger. When enough people support the theory, it is accepted as a fact.

This methodology, called the Scientific Method, is what enables engineers to build bridges that stay up, inventors to make light from electricity, and mechanics to build car engines. It's also the way that human being learn about outer space and the universe.

Although nobody was around to witness the birth of our universe, we do know that there are certain laws (of physics) that remain constant throughout the universe. By examining and testing observable phenomenon in the present, we can apply that data to infer things about the past. We know that the laws that govern physics today, also governed physics when the universe was young.

Without getting too technical, there is copious data that proves the universe is expanding, and that the expansion is accelerating. What this means is that the universe is getting larger, and it is doing so equally, in all directions. This implies that a long time ago (about 14 billion years) the universe was much smaller and denser. It quickly expanded from a central point in what is referred to as a "big bang" although it could also be described as a big "inflation." There is so much data to support this assumption, and so many very smart astronomers all around the world who agree with this, that it is almost impossible they are all wrong.

When so many highly educated and intelligent people agree on a point in science, it eventually becomes an accepted theory, or even a fact. Remember, this is the same method of thinking that makes bridges stay up and lights stay lit. It took many years for common people to accept that the sun, and not the earth, was the center of the solar system, even though all the religions of the time said the earth was the center. The scientist named Galileo was imprisoned by the church for making this statement, but he was correct, and 200 years after he died, the church finally admitted it was wrong.

All your teacher is trying to do is educate you so you don't cling to silly, ancient beliefs that make no sense in our modern world. It doesn't mean you can't believe in god, or even believe that god was responsible for the process that resulted in the birth of the universe. You can accept the validity of science and still keep your faith

No matter what you may read, or think, or be told by religion, everything we know from more than a thousand years of science tells us that the universe formed over billions of years, and it happened the way that the scientific evidence supports.

I don't agree with you. Physicists have come up with the Big Bang Theory based upon observations of the physical world. Upon observing a natural phenomenom they come up with an idea of why this phenomenom occurs in the way it occurs in the natural world. This idea is called an hypothesis. Hypothesis are not fact until they have been tested in the real world in a experiment. Experiments either support or disprove your hypothesis. If your hypothesis has been supported then you know for a fact that is true. Before it becomes universally accepted as a fact, an experiment must be able to be duplicated by fellow scientist. What this means is that the same experiment must be carried out by another scientist with exactly the same final results. The experiment must be able to be duplicated an infinite number of times under the same conditions. That means that if you were to carry out the same experiment under the exact same conditions in the exact fashion you will too get the the same final results. Thus, the Big Bang Theory has not been formulated to upset Christians but to show what facts support as an excellent possiblity of how the Universe may have been created. Facts, do not change over time but theories do. The next generation of physicists will observe new natural phenomena and will test hypothesis based on those observations. Once they test their hypothesis, their results will become new knowledge of the physical world. This new knowledge will either support or disprove the actual theory of the Creation of the Universe-- The Big Bang Theory. So, in conclusion, to say that the Big Bang theory is false you would have to overlook hundreds of years worth of scientific work, this would be eaxctly the same as for a criminal detective to overlook a dead body.

I think it is possible that it was 6 days but more likely that it was 6 periods of equal time (maybe 1000 years each but probably even more than that). The story I like to tell is that of walking in the desert alone and coming upon a beautiful, fully equipped, fully functional, well stocked house. Examining it closely you find that it has food, running water, electricity, furniture, etc. As you leave the house, you say to yourself, "Wow, that was one great explosion." Or do you instead, just know that someone built it and stocked it and really cared for those who would live there? That is the way the earth is.

no i don't. i'm sorry that your faith has so blinded you that you actually believe that, it would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. there is not a single shred of evidence in support of your theory. not only that but you are just simply wrong to believe that there is no evidence supporting the big bang, because there is significant evidence that the universe is expanding, and the big bang is a credible explanation for why the universe has formed the way it has

Well, it's only a theory. But on the other hand, there's also no proof that God created the world in 6 days. So I guess we'll just have to wait for a scientific breakthrough to know for sure.

Other people agree with you, but that doesn't mean you're right. There's no scientific evidence to support a universe created in six days.

(Actually, let me clarify - the Big Bang itself would have been instantaneous, but planet and star formation would have taken a significant amount of time.)

I agree with you ....

The whole idea of the Big Bang theory is pure speculation... not science... since you cannot observe it ... or recreate it.

Its a belief, a faith... that one must choose to believe if he rejects God's Intelligent Design.

There is absolutly no evidence to support the Big Bang Theory...

Its a story about how oddless chance exploded from nothing.... and created the Universe.... magically.

Wow, I must applaud the believers[evolutionist]....

What great faith.

Science says you can't create matter without matter, science says you can't create energy without a source. The big bang started without matter and without a source of energy. No matter, no energy, no bang, no facts, no truth. Stick to what you know and God will continue to bless you in your boldness. Don't let the unbelievers of this world steer you away from God and the truth. By the way even Darwin knows the truth now.
