Can be either. If you've been gone, it could be anxiety about you being gone. In the wild, dogs do commonly pee in a pack members sleeping area to demonstrate either dominance or unhappiness. The best way to know for sure is to look at what has been going on prior to your dog peeing on the bed. Were you gone, did you scold him, etc. I'm sure he's annoyed about something, which is up to you to figure out.

They are demonstrating a need to be let outside earlier, or a need to be punished for not letting you know that they needed to be let outside. If it happens after you constantly scold them and reward them for peeing in the right place (for some time, and provided that you aren't expecting your dog to adust to changing schedules or hold it for too long), then you just have a dumb dog, possibly with an anxiety problem, and you shouldn't grant them access to your bed. Either way, first thing I'd do is simply close the door to my bedroom when i leave if the dog is pissing in it.

Well, let me tell you I live with a cat that does it! And, I think he is trying to get me to do his bidding, so it's retaliation that I won't get out of bed and feed him at 6:15.
You remember in the movie cats & dogs how the caller says ooh he chewed up my favorite shoes and Janiene says did you look in the closet yet? and the dog do-ed in her shoe too? Usually yea, it is anxiety, or the fact that maybe the dog needs to be walked more often??
Try asking at UncleMatty.com I promise they are a dog training website run by the best caring people you could ever meet and ask about dogs. They have a local dog training show on public tv.

My female Shih Tzu peed on my bed only once. She was used to peeing on newspaper and my husband had left a newspaper on the bed... I guess she was either confused or angry at being locked in the bedroom while she could hear us downstairs.
It's most probably separation anxiety. Keep the bedroom door closed if your dog does it regularly.
Good luck.

Seriously.... get rid of the dog because he will go on and on. I had the same problem with my dog that we had for 7years . we bought him a pal.. worst thing we ever did,our 7year old s**t and p****d everywhere, we went back to the vets time and again....we had to ditch the dog. even when it went we still had the problem and had to get a special spray from the vet to remove the scent as bleach wouldn't do it. Good Luck

It's neither. Usually it's adding their scent where yours is the strongest. Kind of a form of belonging. It's also a sign that you should keep your bedroom door shut at all times.
