Last eve I passed beside blacksmith's door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime:
And looking in, I saw upon the floor
Old hammers worn with years of time.

"How many anvils have you had," said 1,
"To wear and batter all those hammers so?"
"Just one" said he, and then with twinkling eye,
"The anvil wears the hammers out you know."

And so, thought I, the anvil of God's Word,
For ages sceptic blows have beat upon;
Yet though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed...the hammers gone!

The fact that the Bible has survived both the ravages of time and the attacks of its enemies shows it is more than an ordinary book. Throughout history, no other book has been so hated, opposed, assailed or ridiculed. Though opponents have done their worst to destroy the Bible, their efforts have been futile - the Bible still stands because it comes from God!

Because how many people here in todays world "hear from god"?
Honestly in todays society if someone is hearing voices its call schizophrenia...the term just wasnt coined back then and people believed more in good/evil spirits and magic and so it was ok to hear voices.

Okay....we'll leave science out and keep it simple.

Ancient scribblings from bronze age goat herders that are full of horror, atrocity and justification for those acts is clearly not divine. The inconsistencies, errors and contradictions; the oppresive and misogynistic attitudes; the talking creatures, burning bushes and a man who can live inside a whale all point to it's absurdity and irrationalism.

Because the Bible is full of the same absurd nonsense that the Quran, Book of Mormon, Bhagavad Gita, and other man-made holy books out there. Because there's tons of biblical contradictions, too--check out this website:

because the bible is one of the most insensical, brutal, uncivilized books ever written. it advocates capital punishment for cursing your parents and those who disagree with god, it forbids the eating of shellfish, and it even tells of men who lived for hundreds of years. even jesus tells his followers to burn those who do not believe in him. those who wrote it were obviously mentally ill, or manipulative megalomaniacal freaks, or both. the bible was written in a (crude) attempt to explain the world. there is absolutely no evidence that anything within it is true

The god described in the bible is evil. A God who could make good children as easily a bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave is angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice, and invented hell--mouths mercy, and invented hell--mouths Golden Rules and foregiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people, and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites his poor abused slave to worship him!
