It works great, so tell me why I should buy a new one? Why am I being urged to ditch it if it works?

Stick with it until it absolutely breaks! Because with these new flat screen plasmas they'll keep coming out with newer models which will keep makking your "new" one look "old". Stick with thiss one - it can't be compared and if it works perfectly fine save yourself a couple of hundreds (;

Well here's a few reasons:

1. As of February 17, 2009... all Over-The-Air (OTA) broadcast TV will be in digital format. I bet your 10-year-old TV doesn't have a digital ATSC tuner. If I'm right, then on that date, your analog OTA broadcasts will go dark.

2. If you get a new ATSC tuner your maximum resolution will be 480i - pretty lame and blurry. Your new TV would probably be an HDTV (720p or 1080i) - Sweet.

3. Blu-Ray Disc (BD) and HD-DVD will soon replace regular DVD's. These new formats will look much better on your new HDTV.

I had a 25" old TV, now I have a 46" 1080p LCD TV...I don't even know how I was able to watch that old thing.

It's kinda like cell phones - 10 years ago we never used them - but now we don't know how to function without them.

well ten years is a long time ago and if your planning on getting any of the new bwtter quality and more exciting entertainment technology a ten year old is not gonna cut it. if you do plan to get a new one go for an hd tv. probably a dlp.

most eltronics do wear out like they used to do...they last a long time..but with the Plasma TV or the HDTV I think you will be surprised with the newer models..but if you are happy with the preformance with your current TV...then stick with it...

i would stick with the old TV. when we bought our new TV they said the average life for a new TV is five years. plus if it works why through it out.

I can't think of a single reason. Tell whoever's urging you to waste your money you're not that stupid.

If it has a good pix, why replace it. If it lasted this long, you got a good set. Keep it till it dies.

whatever floats your boat. if you don't feel the need to upgrade, then don't!

i like my hdtv and widescreen. plus i need as many inputs in the back as i can get and a coaxial cable doesn't cut it.
